Would Using a Windows VM With a Linux VPS Work?

Hey, I am looking into what VPS I want to use for bottling social media. My bots can only be used in windows. Linux servers are hugely cheaper then windows, so could I just buy a Linux and run VM? How much would this affect the performance? I would assume the base OS would need to have at least 2 gb of ram. I can buy a 8 gb ram Linux server for how much a 2gb windows server is, so even if half goes to the base OS, it'd still be worth it. Would this work?

No, it doesn't work in that way. I too had the same thought half a decade ago but unfortunately that is not how the VM's work. You can't just load a VM onto another VM.

Checkout VPS packages from @GreenCloudVPS. He's got Windows VPS at Linux VPS prices.

Convert your bots, seriously now. It's not worth keeping the Windows corpse around, it's like going to a wedding with a dead raccoon on your back.
 
@zinxpxbl I agreed with you on the other thread, but not here ;).

Well unless the bot does have a linux version, I wouldn't recommend to run wine to emulate windows on a VPS.
You would have far worse performances than running it on windows.

The whole point of botting on a VPS, is to make profit over it so the server cost doesn't represent much. So @OP start with a lower level running your bots, assess your profit situation and scale as you grow.
 
You can run windows vms on a dedicated Linux server, but not on a Linux vm.
