Hi there

I got my site running and doing posts. It has featured image and link. I use wp automatic to fetch those. I post to twitter using ifttt and its working but i would like to add hashtags and this is buggin me.

If i change ifttt app where i add hashtags i haven't been able to add picture. Could be because it's featured image and not image in post. It just disappears from tweets. But i get pre defined tags there.

Anyone have idea how i would fix this? One that was on my mind was using somekind wordpress plugin to automaticly tweet. Could i add hashtags that way or even better do random/spintax hashtags?

there are some free plugins in the wordpress repository to post tweets, maybe try some of those. since they are free you can just try it out and see if any of them work as you expect it.
otherwise you could have someone write you a plugin in the "hire a freelancer" section that does exactly what you want.
 
wp automatic had tag section that i haven't noticed. Entered tag list and select how many tags it will add to post. It even randomly selects tags. Ok i think i just need to find auto postin plugin that works the way i want.
 
I'm pretty pleased what i managed to create. So i was unable to use post tags as hastags so i wrote static hastags. Needed to get twitter api and now using TAuto Poster plugin. When wp automatic posts it is tweeted with image, tags and link to post.
 
Do you mean with featured image and link, that its a clickable picture which directs to ur website?
 
wordpress post has only featured image thats not in the content part when looking from editor. When viewing post it is visible in post and post listing. Also with this i was able to get tweets with image and link to the post.
 
If I want to achieve something like this I would avoid IFTTT and take a look at twitter cards + word-press addons supporting it. Twitter Cards are officially supported by twitter and what is important make your tweet post click through > your website.

I didn't do this exactly so I'm not 100% sure (I don't use WP) but i think you need 2 WP addons 1.Twitter card smthing, 2.Twitter poster smthing

IFTTT had limit of 25 tweets per day so that was one reason why i switched away from it. I didn't know about twitter cards and i ended up making changes to my site. When i manually fetched posts it worked like a charm. But when cron job did that it was always missing image... I have no idea why it works like that. So i added image to post and made it look similar as i had when it was on featured image. Now it has been always posted image on twitter.
 
I use twitter auto poster and old post rescuer or something like that.

The first one posts when new posts are created. The second one randomly picks old posts and posts them to twitter, bringing traffic to older content.

I set both to use same format, so users can't tell it's 2 plugins working together.

@Floccer it looks like you put a lot of thought into this. Trying to learn about it now. Would you mind sharing current set-up with me?
