We currently have a programming > website design sub-forum and a Blackhatseo > blogging sub-forum which is where a lot of threads that relate to website development and functionality get placed.

However, these forums aren’t totally suited to threads that relate to these areas.

So my proposal is that we create a sub-forum specifically for website development queries or even, more specifically, WordPress development, seeing as that’s probably the most popular CMS platform used here.

This is my suggestion as a member of the forum.

Thoughts?

sounds good to me, even give it a wider scope with more platforms, similar to what we have in the social media forum.

Not so keen on website development as too generic for my liking, but wordpress development hell yeah! I use wordpress all day everyday and having a section dedicated to it would be my new home (possibly) depending on how good the content is.

Good shout :)

WordPress would be the best choice for a subforum, as web developers know they can search stackoverflow or don't need any help at all.

I think it could be great. In the next period of time it will be a little madness with the Core Web Vitals G update, so a dedicated sub-forum will bring an extra value to the community.

+1 I am sure we get more than 50 posts each month on wp. Also, something dedicated to php may be?

I feel that WP is nowadays the common standard for general SEO and BH SEO purposes.
Regardless that WP is a 40% of the whole industry I'm confident that the 99% of the people around BHW use WP sites on their daily basis
Most PBN gurus put their examples with WP in mind.

WP is in the air

Moreover, most of the content generators, scrappers and any kind of automations are mainly focused on WP

And over the top @Festinger will be happy. Let's make Festinger happy :p

I agree, in this category we can also post stuff related to sys admin/linux (such as self hosting on vps/dedi and other various tech stuff related).

That would arguable fall under web hosting, but I suppose it’s feasible that we could have a sub-section relating to systems development as well. I’ve not thought about that until you mentioned it.

Anyway, the main thing to at least satisfy this suggestion would be to see how much interest there is, I believe that’s one of the main metrics for suggestions getting noticed or implemented.

I browse our programming cemetery, I mean the subforum all the time. There are hardly any quality threads in it. People who know how to code aren't really active on any subforums except for the HAF section.

I don't see a wp-dev subforum suddenly becoming active. Other than few noobs trying to "null/bypass" license check of popular themes/plugins.

But you guys can prove me wrong.

lack of activity isn't from BHW coders members but from the other side, I made and shared free courses/tuts before
with little interactions... could see example here to here

useful content should be sticky on the programming section ...If BHW starts a coding camp for beginners I will be first teacher volunteer.

I agree there isn't any interaction from the other side too. I've also tried to make the programming section active multiple times.

It is just BHW is not really a dev-oriented forum. I don't think a wp-dev forum is going to suddenly change it.

I think its a great idea for a Wordpress development subforum, there are lots of people out there that would be interested in CSS, for their sites maybe?

Great suggestion.

If you can pull together a list of threads that you think would qualify for this new sub-forum, we'd definitely consider it.

Here are the criteria we'd need to hit: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-to-create-a-new-sub-forum.1121067/

If there's enough to meet those criteria and you can pull them all together we'll look into it!

Going to close this thread for now as the question has been answered.
