I was checking some domain names and found something casual, priced at $1 million. It could at best be a lifestyle blog or forum.

Do you think people will purchase them at such ridiculously high prices, or just the registrars are being greedy?

It depend but yes

I was quoted $1M for an LLL.com the other day - the guy is smoking crack, but there are other LLL's that are for sure worth that much.. as well as the kind of domains mentioned above.

I'm sure if the right buyer is found "e.g. Starbucks for a domain like coffee.com" 1 million would at the lower end.
So to answer your question: Yes I think it's possible to sell a domain for 1mil.

Fb.com , sex.com and toys.com were sold in millions.

But be careful, most of the listings in domain marketplace are highly-highly overpriced. Many domains listed at $10k does not worth $10.

Yes... but invest this for optimizing the website which will buy for some $$ bucks is good in my opinion ;)

I recently paid $8500 for a two word domain as an investment. I know I paid a higher than normal price for this Domain but it is worth a lot. My point is a domain name may look normal for someone and special for someone who knows how to use it.

Sure, a huge finance company would all day long pay a million usd for a domain like insurance.com or loan.com for instance.
I red somewhere a while ago that insurance.com was sold 36.000.000 $

I actually have a friend that paid 6MM for a domain about 4 or so years ago and is not even using it; he rents it out.

Yeah, domains can have real value.
