I am here for tips, constructive criticism and any help or assistance you can possibly give me. I searched blackhat for tips and tricks to make content go viral but it just won't work. what am I doing wrong?

First I make a facebook post on my fan page using social puzzle.
In my post I say" I am giving away one $100 Amazon Gift Card. Like & Share, then visit → link"
when they click on the link the link takes them to a page with a picture of a $100 amazon gift card.
and the page says make sure you're our fan with a like button next to it.
and share this giveaway with a share button next to it. then I send out a tweet to my twitter followers. " saying something like come join my amazon $100 gift card giveaway.

Now you might be asking how did you come up with this. well I didn't I saw Urban Outfitters contest and I thought to myself let me try to replicate it and its sure to bring me success. please help me I have been trying method after method and nothing seems to work they are active fans they like and share my post and pictures but nothing is working. It kills me when I see a post here saying yeah I made a contest and now my page has over 100K fans if it is that easy please help me and dm me. PLEASE!!!!

I have around 4,000 real fans.
I have around 20,000 real twitter followers.

I have tried Facebook contest today and result was - horrible.

My posts are getting a lot of likes, comments etc for amount of likes I have - 11k REAL active fans, mostly from US. They are very interactive. However, after 15 minutes of posting contest for like and share result was: -1 fan, 2 shares, 20 likes. Disaster...

People dont believe anything on facebook anymore...they have been tricked into "500,000 first fans get iPad2" and shit like that- (stupid to fall for something like this anyway)...

Maybe it will work when you offer 1000 free laptops :D

People get burnt out on the same old sales tactics even if the giveaway is the latest and greatest freebie.

    Hi,
First post here, was passing through and saw this and joined to maybe help.

You're very wrong about people not being interested, people will try and win the most pathetic stuff online and especially on facebook. Some companies do it extremely well, others not so much. I'd suggest you find Makeuseof on FB now, they have a series of giveaways running, each one is linked from their FB page to an app on their website. So, to enter you 1) like the page, 2) like the post 3) share the post ..then a series of other likes and shares via the app to gain extra entries...the one that works best being the ability to share a post and a tweet daily to gain extra entries.
Woobox, Rafflecopter and several other apps can be integrated into a FB page which work in a similar way. Dabs UK FB have a nice one with a weekly competition, that one also has the option to invite people for extra entries..I think 3 per accepted invite with that one?

One thing that matters is the scope of the thing..is it one country or worldwide? You have much more choice if it's worldwide.
There are dedicated competition sites where you can (get someone else, not you as they frown on that for self promotion) post your competition. They'll get you some entries and if shares are involved ..eyes of all their FB mates seeing it too.

I could go on but if you need any more help feel free to ask :) If it's worldwide I'll be happy to whack it on a good forum for you.If it's not I'll share it to some comping friends on FB :)
