Hi guys,

I see a lot of services of people buying traffic to their site, like $10 for 10k views etc.

What is the benefit of this, why do people even buy this traffic? (isnt it fake)

And whats the point to manipulate analytics? Show bigger numbers, before selling site?
so is this the ONLY reason they do it, or do they actually get sales from this traffic?

Yes. I know many people who do that. They buy an expired domain with backlinks, then they buy traffic to manipulate analytics to sell the website for a higher price

I believe there are other reasons, but getting conversions isn’t one of them as far as I know as most of them are fake.

Most buyers are new comers and think it could convert for them or it could be to increase their website stats.

It is all about Marketing Marketing and Marketing. Website traffic for search engine and so many thing. Best example- Descipto (credit goes to fake trending in India and Jio Company)

I'm sure there are plenty of reasons, namely to manipulate GA/Alexa stats to value their site more on flippa. I'm not an SEO guy, but I've read that it can help with ranking if you keep a low bounce rate and high time on site.. Don't quote me on this, I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure some people are using it for other fraudelent reasons: for their clients to show growth, lower click-through-rates on Adsense, lower conversion rates on CPA offers, generate revenue on CPM ad networks (I know some of these networks definitely don't care as long as you hide it well and you're bringing them good revenue), and some maybe even resell the traffic to unsuspecting buyers.

Actually I worked for a magazine. When they got advertising campaigns on their website, they would promise unachieveable impressions. In one case, their website had a total of 50k impressions per month, and they sold a display ad campaign promising 300k impressions in that month (which is impossible). They had to buy fake traffic to reach that number of impressions so the client would pay them.

Also they promised clicks, and had to fake that too. But that's for another episode.

Another client was an advertising agency, they promised their client an increase of their website traffic by 10% at least. Some of their client sucked and they had to fake some traffic to reach their contractual agreement of the "at least 10%". That's because if the contract is not filled, they don't get paid.

You can also manipulate analytics to make your site look more in demand. There are many public tools to estimate a website's traffic. Sometimes I'd get people tell me how their site gets 400k impressions per month, but then on a free public tool it shows they get 50. It's inaccurate and might seem unimportant, but I had some bot send traffic to my previous company's site. When meeting with clients who didn't think my company was in demand, i would pull up one of those free tools, and show him we get 9k visits per day for a marketing service firm, so obviously we know what we're doing.

.
Great point. The people think fake traffic is for Flippa or lowering Adsense CTR. There are much higher players involved and they are impressing their bosses/clients with fake numbers.

I've seen flippa sites with ridiculous traffic numbers. Like, 0 traffic one month, then 10,000 visitors the next, with a 92% bounce rate a 0:04 time on site. I figure these are the people buying traffic.

This is the main reason I see. Always be super careful when buying a site that is young with a lot of traffic.
