Who's gonna cry when forums nofollow profile links?

I know of a few people that are probably going to have to rethink there link building strategy severely when the forum coders stick a simple rel into their profile pages! Seems as though profile pages are like marmite (love / hate) with people..

I'm not a great fan of profile links just for the mere fact I like links that will stick, and eventually (as is already beginning to happen) these will be nofollowed. I will use profile pages alongside other link building methods - but exclusively - nooooo!

The amount of dollar that Xrumer makes on subscriptions must be mighty... it's only when you think of how useless that program will become when nofollow goes into play that you realise why the owner is probably squeezing every penny he can from people whilst it works! It's something to think about anyway.

Xrumer is not the only way to make those types of links.

Additionally, there is about a million forums on the internet - If you think they're all going to be nofollow anytime soon you're mistaken.

When did I claim it was the only software? I only stated I can see why he charges so much when Xrumer is software with a limited lifespan.

It will take a couple of updates, the majority of people keep their boards upto date. Especially if they know it'll combat spam. The forums which are left will end up like the current blogengine situation = practicaly useless.

Blog Engine is far from useless. If you think it is you're obviously not looking hard enough.

Agreed, blogengine is a gold mine for easy and automated backlinks, you just need to know what your searching for.

These tools increase forums members for free... and this members do not spam.
Forums have boosted statistics, which can make easier to sell.

Not only that, but forum posting via thematic replies with sig links is also a very, very real alternative.

P.S. No follow still carries weight. I've ranked sites that were 200+ on light competition keywords using only no-follow as a test. Took about 3x as many links as I normally do though. Site has around 16,000 back links lol.
