I have been outsourcing some work lately because I get tired of doing it myself. So I'm curious which one are you guys finding more effective? I've personally had mixed results with both. If you were going to pay for one or the other to build links to your site which would you choose and why?
They are both great tools to dominate the 1st page of G. A well constructed link wheel will last for a long time and will produce excellent results time after time. Once a good link wheel is created it does not take allot of work to maintain it. But if you want to do so you do not leave any footprints for Google to find it takes time and energy. Profile links are excellent too. They certainly help with your link building strategy. Combining these two strategy I believe would be a deadly way to dominate the 1st position in the SERPs.
Here's the bottom line. I don't want to spend the money on both on some of my sites because they are not big money makers so I am trying to figure out which would be the better investment.
Both of them work. It depends on the number of links that will point to your site. If I were you I'd build 5 articles pointing to my site. One linkwheel pointing to each article. Lots of profile links to your linkwheel nodes. Never point your blachhat sites=links directly to your salespage or you will risk it.
Illegal. LOL, so the G police are going to arrest me? All backlinking is "illegal" in a sense. Anyway, to get the most out of doing profile links, consider doing the cascading profiles. It is like linkwheeling with profiles. You make the first link, and when you go to make the second profile you add a link to the main site and a link to the first profile site. And then just keep going.
I've tried this before and usually what ends up happening is a profile or two ends up getting deleted. Very frustrating. I'll try one again.
I know they both work what I am trying to figure out is which people find more effective. The most frustrating part of all of it is waiting for google to index everything and give you credit for the backlinks.
@ JimBean If Search Engines fails to detect the complete wheel, it will be a great favor to the competitor. I have been doing profile link building, Even I dont think that is legit enough. You can create incomplete link wheels, so that it doesnot become a complete wheel, it is effective though. All the best
