Ghost offers speed and built-in memberships but needs more tech skills, and static generators like Hugo are super fast yet require coding.

The only reason I choose WP is because of the wide range of plugins and themes. There are plugins for everything. If you talk about performance for a huge site, you can definitely optimize your WP site, but Ghost would be more preferable.
