What would you do as an admin here at BHW?

get some kind of a system where BHW will accept the payment from a buyer before giving it to the seller once goods were delivered or approved. This way, we avoid people or seller getting away after receiving money from buyers.(I'm seeing a lot of thread about this lately).

Give Jr. VIP a little more value by allowing them to post every 30 seconds rather than 60. Some posts don't need a full 60 seconds of response time and I end up with 10 windows open.

+1 for the new theme, reading long threads hurts my eyes.
+1 for the IRC chat
+1 for the notification from post, I don't received them and have to search just to look who replied
+1 for the download organizing
+1 for preventing spam by disabling them to post for a week or two

Hopefully this suggestions will be heard and taken seriously :)

I agree with everyone who say that there should be a notification system.
I agree with everyone who say that there should be monthly awards.
I agree with everyone who say that the best threads from the past should be brought out and a separate section must be made for them.

My suggestions -
1. Give an infraction to users if they PM back and forth with someone 3-4 times, and then suddenly stop replying. I hate when this happens. A simple "Not Interested" will do. But not PMing will not do.

2. The Member Downloads section should be closed for new members till they have 50 or 100 posts.

I would open virtual hot dog stand...we all get hungry while working :)

I've not read every suggestion, but I support opening up an Adult marketing section as mentioned on page one. Traffic Junky serves 1.5Bill ad impressions every day, and where can we talk about taking advantage of this traffic? Make an Adult Marketing section and I think it'll thrive one way or another ;)

how about vips not having to wait 30 seconds to make
another post or send a pm

I can't think of anything else apart from "PM Me" or "I've PMed you" messages which takes lesser than 30 secs. And I wonder how often one really need to post a second message in less than 30 seconds.. I already saw your post count lol..

A barter system so I can earn points for my seo services and trade them for graphics work, or whatever.

Took a trip to Tampa today and didn't think this thread would take off like it did. I'm happy to see so many of our members interested in the community to make suggestions.

I'll touch on a couple things as it's late and other stuff may need a bit more explaining.

Escrow services are a no-go here. BHW doesn't want anything to do with it. There staff cannot be responsible for cash exchanging hands. There's a huge liability and frankly, not worth the hassle. I could go on about the legal issues involved, but I digress.

Joint Ventures. Ugh. It's been a challenge controlling that section. We lock it down, members request to post there go up and it's a slow process. People get upset at the wait time and denials to post. We cannot possibly insure that what's being offered is on the up and up. Members giving personal info up front to vet them? No, that's not going to happen either. This is where due diligence and personal responsibility for your decisions comes into play. We all know of the inherit risk dealing online, so it's buyer/investor beware. We're working on a solution/compromise to this though and until I get to read everyone's ideas, I cannot say how it's going to go. Hence this thread. ;)

To anyone that may be confused... nor the site owner or myself are looking for a new admin. I'm simply asking if you were given the chance, what would you do and why? Being a staff member here takes a LOT of time and getting involved in our chat (irc.blackhatworld.com). If the staff doesn't know you there's little chance in you being asked to join the team. I know some of you don't care for IRC, but that's the way it has been and will be for awhile until something else is decided upon by the site owner. Even then, we'll still have IRC. ;)

Keep the suggestions coming. :)

I will help to introduce some new feature in BHW ..Not sure what but Sure I will add some new...Like Fiverr Section in BHW where some DOnor only post Jobs at 10$ and People get Sales through BHW Marketplace not just BST...What you say guys?

BHW Internet Radio station is a great idea!

We can make a regular programming. Some shows will talk about IM stuff, the latest tech news, latest Google updates, sports talk, Top 40 music chart, and just awesome music overall.

We could also have pre-recorded shows and have interviews of certain successful IM gurus. This way, the noobs will be able to learn more and have an easier time implementing the methods cause they will hear from the geniuses themselves.

BHW internet radio station! If ever this pushes through, I'm more than willing to be a Radio DJ/Presenter. Been doing this for years. :)

I will change the fee system of BST section:
My idea: there is always fee, but money are gived in contests and merits to all users... and not only in my pocket ;)

Dont know about others but I'd gift this guy a new keyboard which has its "ENTER" key working.

@Topic
1. Live Chat
2. Email notification when someone quotes your post.

On top of my head: BST/JV stricter for sure, since there have been multiple cases of very low quality tools and/or shitty support. New users shouldn't be allowed to post more than N times / day during their trial period (like in an exclusive club, basically) this would hopefully reduce the number of bumps to old threads, "thank you this is awesome" posts and in general cut the low q of a lot of posts I keep seeing. Anybody posting aff links should be banned without warnings: if you don't even take the time to read the rules what's the point of joining a community? I don't see any logic in the "don't blame the poster for what's uploaded". The download section should have the rule that YOU need to test PERSONALLY and vouch for it before plastering the forum with rehashed shit from other forums/sites to whore your way thru a couple points of reputation. If you fuck up, a 3-strike warning/ban mechanism should be enforced on you according to the severity of the mistake. This problem seems to be persistent, reputation whether we like it or not is basically the most important parameter to evaluate any JV (imo more important than the itrader score in general) official or not and a sure way to let scammers and new ones thrive on the forum. Maybe there should be a rewarding system for posting good methods and valid contributions MORE layered than the few levels (noob/regular member/+) simply based on the number of posts basically and the simple reputation system. That can be abused in so many ways and as soon as you become buddy buddy with someone influential your points get artificially inflated without reflecting the real value / trust of the user. There are ppl with thousands of points of rep that are totally worthless: some involved in very well planned -and successfully exectuted- scams. Seen this time and time again for years. A section with reportedly working methods, vouched by reputable members / senators would def add a lot of value to the whole forum from the perspective of a new member, maybe fostering a better sense of "community" and loyalty. In addition it should be acted upon anyone rehashing methods as old as the world with ulterior motives that are suspected to go way beyond helping others (aka rep whoring). A stricter modding should be considered in those cases. Also let me say I totally appreciate the great work of the mods, but well you asked :) I'd have a few ideas for Jr VIP, as well but I won't discuss them in the public session.

Isn't there already a live chat available on top of the website.... not exactly on the website, so changing that concept might be beneficial.

Leadership Development

The best forum I've ever been on put a lot of effort into pulling leaders from the newb ranks, giving them a basic title and a dab of responsibility and then put some effort into shaping them into being a forum leader of some sort.

This would require an overall shift in the forum's focus which allows learning to happen randomly and without much direct involvement from forum staff, whose primary role seems to be establishing order on the forum and adjudicating shitlist threads. This forum has unrealized potential in, as at least one other member observed, education.

Also, providing some financial incentive for forum staff, and it doesn't have to be much. A little something is better than a lot of nothing, and even if the something is only symbolic, that's important to some people. It also gives non-staff members something to think about when they contemplating their future at BHW. Allowing people to daydream of the day when they might be a moderator would go a long way toward tempering some of the interpersonal situations. At some point, the stick becomes useless; you have to have a carrot of some sort. And also, given the "rogue" nature of blackhatters, threatening punishment for crossing the line only encourages some people to edge closer to that line, for no other reason than to try to identify exactly where that is. (Which, I have learned, is impossible, as it is constantly moving.)

Some people have to know that. Give them something else to think about instead. It will take some pressure off of forum staff and allow them to focus on other, more positive endeavors.

My favorite forum has Moderators that primarily focus on the technical aspects of the forum's purpose, and the "discipline" is really secondary. On this forum, it might look like having one Admin and 3 Moderators helping people in the "Blackhat SEO" section, while another team is primarily responsible for Affiliate Marketing. I don't see too many staff helping to answer noob questions, or directing them to use the search feature, or showing them how, or explaining to them why they should do this. (Which is REALLY important. Most people are not capable of just figuring it out. They need to be told why. Multiple times, in fact.) My guess for why this situation is like this is because forum staff have enough to do just keeping the discipline and interpersonal conflicts regulated, etc.. and also because they are unpaid.

Scale? Triple the size of the staff, and then see if each of them can be simultaneously mentoring 3 different "general members" for the purpose of possibly converting them into entry-level staff within (say) 4 weeks. Sending members friendly PM's quoting specific forum rules (with links) would also establish a more friendly and supportive tone.

Work out a model by which there is some way by which we can check on the progress of threads submitted for approval on the Services section. And have quicker approval (or rejection) processes!

The potential for abuse with creating mini-guru types is far too high for us to implement something like that. And regarding our involvement with forum members, keep in mind that we all do this on a volunteer basis. Yes there are perks, but generally speaking we recieve no compensation at all for what we do. In addition, all of us have real lives and jobs/businesses to run. Staying at arm's length allows us to be much more impartial when dealing with disputes than if we were involved with member's day-to-day activities.

Also, I think you underestimate the amount of bullshit that we have to clean out of the forum every day. Seriously, a metric ton of it gets thrown all over the place in every section on a daily basis. Add reported posts, threads, and PMs on top of that, sprinkle a few shitlist threads here and there, and you have a pretty good idea of what we spend most of our time doing.

Po said this above but I will say it again here:

If you are seriously interested in becoming staff, you need to be on IRC. Period.

We need to see your face every day for an extended period of time (read: 12+ months) and have a very good intuition of the type of person you are before you will be considered. And that does not mean joining and idling for the next year, it means engaging in discussions and helping people with questions/problems. Three of the last four people to make moderator were fixtures on IRC long before the majority of you joined the forum. And the fourth has been a member since early 2008.

Some food for thought anyway.
