I'll be to the point, I am not 18 yet. So I was wondering, which payment processor should I use for Shopify that doesn't have any restrictions? I was considering lying about my age on PayPal but I have seen stories of people who got their funds frozen because of this.

Should I just use a family members account? I'd prefer to have my own but if all options are exhausted I guess I'll have to go with it.

    Thanks, all comments are appreciated!

PayPal or 2checkout, with your details or.
Sure you can use your family members cards or details as for as your not doing anything against PayPal tos you're safe.
There is no age restriction on holding PayPal/2checkout account if you have bank Ac (even if it is junior(under 18) also acceptable under PayPal tos)

What do you mean? Can you sign up for a business PayPal being under 18?

Also, that article was quite helpful, thanks. I'm just hoping that whatever I do, I won't have to go through verification.

Oh really? That's great! I have a bank account so no problems there, and I plan to follow TOS, so hopefully nothing goes wrong there. However, what happens when they want you to verify your account through ID, etc.? Thanks for your replies!

What do you mean by this?

I'm sure you can make a Buisness Paypal Underage because many people have done it. I think you can verify underage if you have a bank account not really sure i just have a personal account rn . Also, what @lestraw means once you have a verifed paypal you don't have to worry but you have to fill out some info which is confidential which is the problem. I'll figure the paypal issue after i get enough money to fund my ecommerce buisness first.

No. Actually OP needs to be at least 18 years old to be able to legally create a PayPal account. Since he is under 18, he is considered a minor and can't enter into any legal contracts on his own. When getting a PayPal account, you are entering into a legal contract with PayPal.

"For an individual to open a U.S. PayPal account and use the PayPal services, you must be a resident of the United States or one of its territories and at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your state of residence."
It's for PayPal US, but it works to the same analogy in any supported country.

The issue is not lying, everyone can do that. The real issue is that you can't really do too many things with an unverified account. PayPal will limit you sooner than later and they will ask for personal documentation, a photo id and that's when it becomes a bit riskier. Lying about your age is one thing, forging or using forged documents is an entirely new level.

@Billygoat24: It's necessary to be able to accept PayPal payments or else you'll leave money on the table. There are two ways to do that: directly with PayPal or via 2Checkout. Since you can't have any of those legally, because you're underage, the easiest would be to use a family members PayPal account until you turn 18. You sensed that right. :)

Is this a fact? I don't sell on Shopify, so i wouldn't know. I'm just asking, because Premier PayPal accounts also have the Express Checkout option, what Shopify uses, so he might not need a Business PayPal account after all.

Going off someone's word on the Forum Yes. Not 100% sure it will be useful for me though later if someone can 100% confirm if you need a business PayPal my gut feeiling is yes.
