Content would be text articles, photos, artwork and should be HTML, that way search engine can “see” what it is? Please explain

Accordition to the MOZ website "To perform better in search engine listings, your most important content should be in HTML text format. Images, Flash files, Java applets, and other non-text content are often ignored or devalued by search engine crawlers, despite advances in crawling technology.

Everything between the <body> </body> HTML tags is indexable, search engines like lots of text (long articles), images, tables etc.

Video's are also good as they tend to increase the amount of time a person spends on your page which decreases bounce rate which improves rankings.

If you post some content from your site then that will be indexed for sure if that's unique has seo value.
If you have unique contents in your site then create a sitemap and add that from your Google search console and by this indexing procedure will be faster & you can check all the reports too

Other than those that have been discussed above ^ , your site's page coding and structure must also pass the G structured data requirements.
Having a page with loads of structured data error, would only mean that an inferior site that is not well-maintained, which hardly goes along with their theme of bringing "quality" content to the browser.
Also, there are circumstances where a content may not be indexable due to the error in .htaccess, or some PHP fatal error happening from behind - seems like Big G is really fussy sometime.
After satisfying all these mumbo-jumbo, an ordinary content should be indexable on the search engine.

The easiest way to ensure that the words and phrases you display to your visitors are visible to search engines is to place them in the HTML text on the page. However, more advanced methods are available for those who demand greater formatting or visual display styles:
