Hey guys I was wondering if there was any books/ebooks you recommend for learning about SEO? Im pretty new at SEO and only know the basics. Im about to buy an amazon affiliate website and anything specifically about that would be even better. Thanks

With everything changing so quickly and updates from google so frequently, its definitely not a good idea to follow a book. It would be better you check resources online.

As the reply above states, don't follow books since everything is changing so quickly. I learn quite a bit every day from blogs of people like Neil Patel as well as listening podcasts made by marketers like "Entrepreneurs on Fire" or "Marketing School", etc.

Be sure to search for blogs posted this year, especially when searching on Google. There is a sea of outdated content still ranking high in the SERPs.

Follow Google and SEO folks, learn about their previous insights and tips.
Don't rely on books. They're outdated and not so relevant anymore.

BHW also is the option and read each post of the SEO

Books? Back in the days, there were books teaching people how to use Windows XP. You have everything you need here on BHW.

The best book that you can have is called BlackHatWorld, it's free to use and has the best SEO information.

It depend which level in SEO you would like to achieve.

If you want be in feature the real SEO expert, I recommended you reading Google patents and test it in real environment,
instead to listen tons of fake (and popular) gurus. As Matthew said "If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit."

As we saw last time, Rand from Moz even not been able to index his new blog in Google.
What more funny, people follow his "recommendations" :D

Best regards,
Greg.

The only way to learn SEO is by doing. There's too much conflicting information. Once you gain enough real world knowledge the stuff out there can be helpful, but generally I still don't read anything about SEO. Well, I read blogs to know what's going on in the industry, but I am not learning from it. I learn mostly from analysing sites that succeed and fail, looking for patterns and correlating that with my own experiences of my own sites.

Just find stuff online, including this forum, while building your own blog.

The "correlations" is often used on fake gurus "SEO blogs" to make the people dumbs.

It's because we can do correlation even to color of server in rack.
But is it really matter ?
No, it's link baiting.

But as you said, creating many own sites will help to understand SEO, because you have access to all stats.

Best regards,
Greg.

I don't think you understood what I said.

I analyse sites that fail, and sites that succeed and I combine the results of the analysis additionally by correlating that with my existing knowledge. That has nothing to do with a statistical correlation, let alone anything at all to do with any guru blogs. In this context I am using the word 'correlating' to mean "matches up with", or "agrees with".

Also, statistical correlations are entirely valid ways to identifying ranking factors. It's not either "correlation or no correlation". You get a number between -1 and +1. It gives you a good indication of the importance of something and you can take the new hypothesis and test it to see if it holds up.

And you wouldn't find any correlation between server color and ranking. You need to study up on correlation. It isn't used to make anyone dumb.
