Videos for SEO, Does it work?

Whats even cooler about having videos to help with ranking your website is if you get those videos ranked you get so much more traffic. I was going to rank YT vids just for offline clients and sell the leads and bank big but got tired of SEO.

Whats the deal with the PPV on videos? Is it a joke or real deal?

Not sure if this helps any, but I have uploaded a YouTube video for a potential client to show them that I can rank their site as a case study, but also created a squidoo lens embedding the YouTube video.

I then blasted the YouTube video with a fiverr gig to get it to page 1 of G.

The squidoo lens I did no backlinks too, just standard SEO work which it initially indexed on G at page 14.

Over the course of getting the YouTube video ranked to page 1, the squidoo lens then ranked paged 2 spot 1.

I am saying yes, the video gives some kind of juice to the sites if you focus on them but I'm not sure how this would do on non web 2.0 sites.

Just my 2 centz

Not sure I understand what you mean "but I'm not sure how this would do on non web 2.0 sites"

Yeah, they worked pretty well. I have been using them for sometime now and they are good.

Are their any youtube pro's out there that can create some good industry focused videos?

Anyone?!?!!

Who's the Youtube video professional out there?

Video is a part of your SEO strategy. I know its the last part.when you think that you have done everything then you should think about Video. For me Its a good way to popularize your website. People search for a video about anything rather than reading an article. That's why video is cool.

your right! video is cool :)

What I'm interested to know is if there is text in the video, can that be read by the search engines? And how else can the videos get indexed?

Google cannot see text in images, flash or videos of any sort, which is why alt tags are so critical. It's also probably one reason why video is so effective as Google cannot determine if the quality of the video (i.e. the "content") is crap or not. So (I think) it gets the benefit of the doubt. Some sites have no video, and those that do have video get a boost, and the quality of that video doesn't really matter. You have to keep in mind that it's all relative to the competitors for the keyword. All things being equal, Google is going to prefer a site that has video over one that does not.

Links to your site especially from authority sites are going to help improve your ranking. The question is how much. 1 video with a link probably isn't going to do a whole lot. What you should focus on is branching out to all video sites and other methods to gain links.

One of the things I do after I create a video is I try to rank the video in search (not youtube). If the video and my site are targeting the same keywords I typically see an increase in rankings for my site as my video goes up in ranking.

One time I had 7 of 10 spots on the first page for a kw I was targeting from web 2.0s, a youtube video, and my site. All roads leading to me.

That seems to be very valid indeed. The method does look workable and would surely bring in positive results in my opinion.

are those super low competition keywords? xD 7/10, too impressive!

If you have video that's advantage of video for ranking, you can optimize your video some Techniques here Choose Relevant Keywords choose your keywords accordingly:
Names (celebrities)
Titles (movies, shows)
Quotes
Actions/verbs
Objects in the video (cars, etc.)
Emotions (funny, hilarious)

good title of video and very good pic is use in video.......
and good descreption is use.........

What programs can be used that would take text and turn it into speech for a video?

If your just looking for a simple video to promote your website, I might be able to help you out, I can edit a VH template with Adobe's After Effects for you if you'd like, I don't do voice overs though. You can hit me up via a PM if you'd like and I can show you a few videos I've created using VH temps that may interest you.

As far as text to speech goes, I'm sure a google search will turn up many text-to-speech programs. Acapela for example has a demo on their site where you can type in your own text to try out and see how their different voices sound. Demonoid has Acapela and alot of other text-to-speech programs as well for download.
