Hi there. Usually I'm very careful with images used on my niche websites. But, on one websites (graphic design niche) I have various logos (jpg).

I never thought this will be a problem since today when I received an email regarding [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Intellectual Property Infringement for one logo. Yes, one company seems upset about my website. Not really upset, they explained that I can't use the logo.

The page is not offensive, just presenting some examples of logos.

So, is legal to use logos (various brands) on my website or should I just delete the website (without logos I don't see the point in keeping it)?

Thanks BHW!

Well... I've read a lot from internet. It appears you need written content from companies to use their logos on your website...

I don't like this. I'm wondering if I take a picture of a logo from street (public domain), then I can use it on my blog?

yeah you definitely need permission if you're going to use a company's logo on your website. is it a necessity that you use their logo on your site? because those big boy companies can shut you down fast if it's any type of infringement so why risk your own business if it may not be necessary to use their logo?

but i don't know your situation so it may warrant a different response :D

Hmmm... rockong: I was presenting various logos like "red logos", "cool logos" - you get the idea, various keywords, nothing offensive.
I never thought this will be a big deal. Eh, I deleted the website

Technically, you have to ask for permission. If youre using it in an innocent way, usually they dont care tho. Which company was it btw?

Don't throw out the baby with the bath water Dude. :D
Maybe there's a way to work around not using logos eh?

I'd just get rid of it just in case they shut you down. It's not worth all the hassle over one logo :).
