URGENT: Making $$$ with a dating site

I've just finished creating a dating site and it's ready to receive traffic. I really need to make some big money out of it because I'm totally broke. It took me more than 1 fuc*** year to finish the site. Now that it's ready I want to earn some big bucks PERIOD.

Onto my question...
What do you suggest is a good way to bring some highly targetted traffic to a dating site that will generate revenue?

I have some money to invest into marketing but I want to be sure that for every 1$ invested, I get 1.1$ in return. Please can somebody tell a field tested way, method or strategy to make money with a dating site? I really need this bad as I need money to pay the bills, food, shelter and other cool stuff like condoms, porn and simi... Ahhh forget it.
Please please any advice?

Hey Trozma - I'm assuming you've white labelled it rather than building a site totally from scratch with your own database and everything (if you HAVE done it all from scratch, wow, hats off an all - and it would explain the year)

What niche are you in? niches do much better than plain old vanilla. The tighter the niche, the easier it'll be to get organic traffic - plus paid clicks will be cheaper.

Are you worldwide or just one market?

Do you have a bunch of good landing pages targeting each sub-niche or market, good simple copy etc and make it as easy as possible for folks to join - every thing they need to do for you on that first page and above the fold in bold with a sexy-yet-girl next door type centre stage?

If those basics are covered, then it's organic search SEO, ppc ads, ppm ads, media buys and all the usual. Pretty fierce competition but most sites are ugly with poor ads. As long as you're better than them you'll do ok.

I use organic search and seo for the bulk of my traffic (stopped using ppc couple years ago), lots of dating sites, lots of niches, hundreds of landing pages and pages optimised for every state, region, county, city and town of my target areas. Takes a while but the traffic's free. Each site only makes maybe $2-300 a month but they add up and it works for me...

FinchSells has a series of good how-to's for dating promotion and I believe they're in the download section on here - read em they're good and all about using facebook, plenty of fish and a few other paid methods of advertising. Do what he says and that's a good start.

If you're totally broke, here's hoping you SEO'd the sh*t out of the site as you were building it.

You shoulda made a site on Viagra instead. Or loans, or insurance, etc......

I built it from scratch - no white label and this shit. I shitted blood for 1 year and 10 days, worked minimum 12 hours per day, every day, been with my mind there 24/7. I did everything myself, outsourced only the writing of CSS and HTML code. Each month I was certain that I will complete the project the next month, but then, the next month new problems and needs arised and I thought I will finish the next... and so on untill I finished it - I guess that's the reason I never stopped. Now it's done and I need to monetize the hell out of this site!

What niche I'm in? Well, I'm targetting women and men who are looking for a serious relationship. How's this niche called? I'm a total noob here, so please forgive me if I ask silly questions.

My site is targetting people in Slovenia (Europe). I want to dominate this market first, before moving onto others. While building the site, I didn't SEOed the shi* out of it - didn't have time and the knowledge to do it. So SEO is good and I will start doing it, but here I need to learn what to do and how. A good mentor would be great, maybe someone is interested? Maybe we can find a win-win opportunity? I don't know. If someone sees an opportunity, just PM me.

I'd like to invest my last few hundred bucks in paid advertising, but I want to invest it smartly - so that I get in return more than I invested. I know that's totally possible, because my competition is already doing it, you just have to know where and how to advertise. That's why someone who has experience would be great! I have a few own methods of marketing the shi* out of my site, but I don't want to because it's almost BH - I want to market the site in a proper and totally legal and acceptable way.

It's in the Slovenian language - use Google chrome to translate pages to english while you browse them. Use these usernames to log in: 'male1' OR 'male2' OR 'female1' OR 'female2' . The pass is always the same: 'user' . male1 and female1 don't have a paid subscription, male2 and female2 have a paid subscription. The site is still in testing mode. The payment system will be completed in a week or two. Do whatever you want on the site, hack it, destroy it, I don't care - if you manage to destroy or hack something, just tell me how you did it so that I can correct the problem.

So, dear friends and blessed fellas, I'd like to find a mentor who will teach me how to make some serious money out of a dating site. I'm open to partnerships and other ideas. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to succeed. Whoever will help me on my endeavour, I promise, I will give twice as much back. May it be money, knowledge, whatever.. Right now I don't have much to offer, but in a year or two I'll build an empire and that's when you will get a lot in return. What i would do is,sign up on other dating sites with tons of fake accounts,post tons ads on your local classified ads site,make fake facebook accounts with hot-avarage girls photos and SPAM SPAM SPAM,this can drive you 1k+ visitors by tomorrow

Some would say you're 10 years too late. What's pretty amazing is that you spent all that time, and money building a site, without (it seems) doing any real market research.

Facebook, POF, Adwords and Media Buys can all work; if you know what you're doing. If not, it's pretty risky, and I'd suggest sticking to SEO; it will take longer, but may work out for you.

A year without any coding, and no on-page SEO? Your whole site should be SEO'd to high heaven to have a chance of natural results.

$100 for ad spend. That could be 20 clicks.

I had a look at your site and not wanting to be super-critical but it's pretty basic - sure there a lot of sites out there worse than it, but it's not any different looking than any of the other millions of sites (most of which have been white labeled and built in a day or so).

I don't personally know the Slovenian market (a few affiliate sites for Anastasia hardly counts!) and most of the Slovenian sites out there seem to be getting western men to find Slovenian girls - so maybe there is space out there for an internal Slovenia-only, man-meets-woman site? Maybe it's an untapped market?

If you're not white-labeling, how many members do you have? I'm assuming you've got a members database? If it's not already filled, no-one will join even if its free. I've got some sites with only 1,000,000 which sounds a lot but if thats USA, then that's practically no-one and the sites just die. Thats why white labelling is such a good thing - instant massive database.

If you really want to dominate Slovenia, I'd go niche, split the site up into lots of tight niches, add some no-strings and even adult-contact stuff and then follow alll the great guides on here about SEO, link building etc.

Yeah I have a plan, but it's just that I'd like to make money with more "legal" types of advertising, like google ads, banner ads, media buys... all the types of advertising that you suggested. I'll definitely consider all the options you guys mentioned.

I think I'll try Facebook ads first as I can target single women and men from a specific country and in a specific age group. I'm assuming that Facebook ads would work the best. So I'm going with Facebook.

DatingChap. Wow, Finch material is great! That's just what I needed! I'll follow his instructions and hopefully earn some money.
I'm going with the "internal Slovenia-only" dating site. I have 700 members so far, but all of them are dead.

About marketing the site... I guess it's all trial and error - test until you find an advertising method that works. That's what I'll do. I'll read, learn, try and see if it works. Sooner or later I'll find something that brings money. I'll keep you posted on my learning journey.

you could run ppc or cpm campaigns on juicyads, exoclick, adxpansion...
that could help at least to get male users.

pof son is your best bet easily sign up 100 new users a day if not more...

I am also looking for a mentor in this niche. I've been working on something and I'd like some professional advice. I have a plan and target market, as well as a strong competitive advantage. The site will be up in the next week or so and I'll begin pounding the drum and marketing. But 'running a dating site' is new to me, so I'm looking for help/guidance/advice along the way.
