URGENT Help Needed! About Paypal Shopping Cart...

I've got two questions about paypal's shopping cart (buy now button):

1- If buyers don't have a paypal account, and they want to pay via cc, are they required to CREATE A NEW paypal account first? Or can they just pay via cc without the need to create a new paypal account?

Basically, does using the paypal buy now button and shopping cart, cover majority of payment options available to even non-paypal members?

2- Is there a way to make the price/amount automatically change after a certain number of purchases? Maybe a third party tool to automatically alter that based on how many purchases occur?

no they don't have to create an account. There is an options when they are keying there info in that says create a new paypal account that they can check or uncheck

They will need to create a Paypal account, no way around this.

I cannot help with the 2nd query, but I believe it could be done.

Hey I never got this option. I'm talking as a buyer, I always had to make payment with a Paypal ID. Unless of course the buyer accepted credit cards directly but for that they would need a merchant account right?

I just found this page:

and they state that customers do NOT need to have a paypal account in order to pay via cc.

There is a setting in paypal which says basically whether or not the buyer has to have a paypal account or not when using the buy now buttons (or add to cart buttons in my case). You need website payments pro to use this - website payments standard wont allow checkout without account.
Goto your profile in paypal, under the option "Hosted Payment Setting"->"Website Payments Preferences" you can select the option which says "Paypal Account Optional" - set this to ON.
Now - when your user checks out - and they are prompted to enter a paypal username and password - there is also an option on the same screen which says "Pay With Your Credit or Debit Card" - user clicks that - job done - check out without an account using paypal buttons.

Thanks for the updates guys. I was asking as a user because despite having both my cards and bank accounts verified in Paypal I cannot make payments to many vendors via the card and have to issue an eCheck. The only other alternative is to go in for a Paypal credit card which I've been putting off.

Coming to the vendors I've emailed them and specifically asked about it and they have said they can accept payments only via Paypal and not directly by credit card. In such instances I've issued eChecks but have been lucky to get the items immediately.
