How does the analytics determine the Bounce rate?
  • How far the users interacting with the website
  • How long the users spending on the website

Is a high bounce rate a bad thing?

Yes. Really. If the user exits without performing anything on your website. Think of it, how it affects your business.

Engaging people with your website is not really easier. It shows your creativity & marketing tactics.

Then what is the best bounce rate for the website?

In my point of view, the below 40% bounce rate on average is the better one.

I have to politely disagree with this. Maybe it is based on perspective.
From my experience, A/B testing is important but the speed of change is not a factor. Time is based only on how long it takes for me to get measurable results. If that means waiting a week or a month for solid data on the A/B testing then that is what I do. I would never make daily changes as certain demographics only browse on certain days of the week. Based on what the niche is you may be missing your audience altogether. Amazon makes changes because it is Amazon and massive and wants to rule the world.

So, as I said, maybe it is a difference in perspective. I may add content on a more regular basis, but added content (ie articles) is not equal to website changes for the purpose of lower bounce rate. That is a more structural change requiring a bit more time to gather A/B data than a single day.

Just my two Lincolns on the matter, not the rule for everyone.

I really agree with your point that amazon receiving millions of visitors. But we should increase our user base before trying A/B testing.

In my experience, we have tried many things in increasing traffic by adding new keywords on a daily basis. But the bounce rate is really high after increasing the visitors. After that, we are trying this one. Nowadays we do changes on a daily basis.

Not about changing the whole layout, just trying to change the CTA, banner, content-wise one day, design-wise one day, and do many little changes on a daily basis.
