Two Languages Blog - good or bad thing?

Hi all,

I have a PR3 blog that I'm updating 2-3 times per week. I bought some backlinks, but I would like to widen my audience by adding one more language to my blog. Right now, it's in English, and I have a friend who wants to join in and have some fun blogging. He's Spanish.

It's an adult blog made with WP.

How should I do this? And should I?

I think it's good for you blog if you update in two Languages. I'm speak Spanish and it's the second most talked language in the world. You only need good SEO for you websie in the tow languages. PM if you want +10000 backlinks for $5 (in english and spanish).

find a plugin called qtranslate (free), start translating and watch your seo skyrocket

You can have multi-lingual blog by getting many languages installed in your blog using available plugin for WP and it will get you more traffic and more sales also.

Also u can create a subdomain like .es.yourdomain.com

If you don't create another domain or subdomain, it's bad for your seo. Google reads the website langage, and ranks it in relation of it

Yes, I think it is a good idea.
I would recommend wordpress multilingual plugin, giving you the option to have your pages / posts already completed translated into Spanish by your friend, and translated into Spanish correctly
I believe it is better than qtranslate, but it is not free $29........
I have used it myself on a Thai / English website.

Have to disagree there, my site is ranked 1st, 2nd , 5th for the same KW,plus 1st and 6th for another KW.

Thanks for all you replies... For some reason, I haven't been receiving thread updates via mail, so I thought no one replied

As usual, opinions differ, which is expected. However, it seems that more people think this is a good idea than those who think it's a bad idea. I'll go ahead and try my luck then.

If something goes down, I'll reorganize things and wait for things to improve.

I'd say, separate sites, if it's not too late at this point.

It's better for the site, the anchor texts of links pointing to it, the sites pointing to it and the comments (if it's a blog) to be all in one language.

Multilingual sites may rank highly, no doubt. But if your question was which way is the better of the two, I say - separate sites.
