Addblock plus gets rid of ads and works great????

Never ever block ad's that called research u should never do that

I did use SeoQuake a while ago but found that it slowed down my browsing etc alot so I gave it up (I get really frustrated at slow running machines!). But the plugin itself is a goodie.

I use Wappalyzer and Alexa to get insight on competitor's sites, and Firebug/FirePHP/Web Developer Toolbar during development.

I consider them all must-have.

It all depends on your market segment. If you make cash running banner ads, I can see why you want to stay abreast of what the competition's doing.

If, however, you earn your living elsewhere, they're all gawdy noise cluttering up your screen.

I turn ABP off sometimes when I'm in 'research' mode, but for the most part I don't want to be bothered by your Colon Cleanse Forex Acai media buys.
