[TIPS] Deleting Posts and SEO

When we delete a blog post or bunch of blog posts from a blog, should we delete it from the Google Search Console too? How does it affect our SEO?

I saw someone on the internet say, that we need to change the robot tags of the pages you are going to delete from “follow” “index” to “follow” “noindex”. And once the url is deindexed change the tags to “nofollow” and “noindex” and then go ahead to delete the post.

You don't need to remove it from the GSC. You can noindex them and wait for them to drop off.
If you delete posts, make sure you redirect their links back to a relevant post or your homepage.

I don't delete my posts. I redirect them and just remove them from showing up on google / make them private.
I could be doing this totally wrong, but from what I've read, it seems many people do it this way.

Why do we want search engines still crawling that URL just for later add the nofollow attribute?
