this was my first look at it....but with limited testing, this is what Google should have evolved into years ago, instead of the bloated, money grabbing dictatorship....finally the search playing field will be levelled!.
put ypurself in tbe users shoes for one moment, do you want the single correct answer returned for a search enquiry....or do you want 1 billion results, with the top 5 purely there because they paid the most to be there rather than by being correct?

I don't think they will become useless. They might start scrapping forums such as quora, reddit, facebook and pinterest. I mean we all have no options, they can go to any extent. The only thing I think they won't get into is whatsapp, our calls and text messages.
well the thing is, there is never a 'single correct answer' for most search queries (unless its some obvious fact like "what is the capital of XYZ country") - - even when, for example, searching for debugging advice on stackoverflow, the best practice is to look at 5-10 different options and then to decide for oneself which one is appropriate given the specifics of the situation.
I already had one of my clients tell me they don't want to publish a blog anymore, and asked me to shift their blog post queue to an email newsletter instead. This is exactly what many smaller publishers will want to do once they realize that their manually written content is going to be chewed up by a GPT model.
that is purely the way Google has historically programmed you to think....this is a brave new world we now face with new opportunities that will spring from it.
Perhaps, but its also a pretty common information gathering process ie triangulation from multiple sources. That's how a lot of fact-checking is done, for example.
if a question is answered accurately including 4 source sites + related options....why would Joe Average want to dig deeper, the masses will love the simplicity, yet accuracy of this....
yeah this is exactly what I'm concerned about.
And the sources from the results are also authority websites (like forbes/nymag/nytimes/etc...) Do you 100% trust these "all-in-one" websites? I don't.
The answer is wrong... so people would still need to read the whole articles to understand the reasons behind Brexit.
Well because the answer can be wrong or too vague like it was in your case.
