The Ultimate Amazon Thread Mark 2 - Q/A - Good/Bad

It's been a month since my site got indexed. Getting products sold once a week with 20-40 UV a day. But im still bouncing around page 1 (ranks 6-10). Havent reached rank 1 yet. Outsourced most of my SEO so far except the commenting on related forums and answering some yahoo questions.

Would like to ask you guys if this is a good sign on my first site? Thanks! :)

I've added a couple of videos to Youtube last week. And today I got another sale.
Is it possible for me to know which traffic that lead to the sale?
 
ClickBank : I just don't believe in the products they sell -- so you will have to try it and start your own thread on that one ... I know Amazon can seem boring compared to the 50% Clickbank Commissions but it (amazon) should not be your only IM income -- from the things you learn from Amazon - you should offer services to clients doing similar things --- so your really making twice as much doing the same thing.

Buy some tools and sell services with those as well .. you get the idea.

Tracking you can track whatever you like really - that's up to you to implement on your Site.

1 month and your getting some Sales and bouncing around still -- this is normal for me --> by 3 months if you do everything right - your rankings should stabilize and Sales should be more consistent -- if your outsourcing Seo - just be careful -- doing too much Seo too Fast can doom your Site pretty quickly if your not careful.

If you want to offer deals/discounts - I would just grab the banners from Amazon and use those - they have promotions all the time .. I don't put banners on my Sites - as I don't want people to just see advertising and click back straight away and go somewhere else -- I want to see them click things and read my content - giving me a better chance for a Sale.

T2t2kid : once you make 1 Sale then you have something to work with and something to give you inspiration for the next sale -- regardless of the amount - just keeping working at it and the money will come .... $600 a month should be everyone's initial goal ---> there is nothing stopping you from reaching it ... so best of luck.
 
Another reason people trust Amazon : I bought a Birthday Present for my Niece which was the be delivered to her before her Birthday ... the Present didn't show up - she obviously got upset about it -- I call Amazon and tell them what happened -- they overnight a new one to her immediately at no extra cost to me ... no questions - no and ifs or buts --> it was just done.

This type of thing when it happens to you - makes you feel like they really do care about their customers.

You contrast that to trying to get Bank of America to help you -- well that's a whole different type of story.

1. I doubt it - Google is smart enough to figure out where you stand in the rankings - simple tricks won't change that -- if you want to use it though go ahead - certainly not going to harm you - but you have to insert the code on each page.

2. I answered that already - I wouldn't - I would use Amazon's Sale Banners. (when available- meaning you have to change them as Amazons Sales Change.)
 
my sites have been rising in ranks for my keyword, but i feel discouraged that my EMDs all have a hyphen in them :/. I should of gone with a prefix/suffix. Did I set myself up for failure?
 
I'm having a hard time getting quality content. I used Natasha Nixon quite a lot in the past and for the price it is very good, so can't complain.

I just used textbroker though, it cost me 25euros for two 600 word articles and they are poor, it's really disappointing. I thought I would get something really nice to put on my site but honestly I just want my money back. It's disgraceful.

I think I'm going to have to write the content myself because even a bad effort by me is miles ahead of something outsourced. I really hate writing though...
 
* You will get no disagreement from me that the hardest thing to nail down is the content side of things - because its so important to rankings.

* Domain doesn't mean as much as it used to - but it can be a great tool to filter visitors from the start - the last thing you want is 10,000 people going to your site and 9975 leaving your site in 3 seconds or less because its not what they are looking for.
 
Definitely, everything else is a skill which I enjoy. Keyword research, SEO + designing sites...I could do that stuff all day. More importantly I love building a business process and if something isn't consistent then I get frustrated.

Just got another article back and again it's not good enough...the time spent asking for revisions, fixing mistakes and re-writing parts adds up to the point where I may as well just write it myself.
 
Outsourcing content is never going to be cheap for amazon, you must find a writer who's not a dud.

Most people can't find writers so they write it themselves. Unless you are really lucky, chances are you
won't find the right person for the job.
 
1 Question I have been getting alot of lately is about GSA .. and should people be buying it for their Sites Seo.

I took the 7 day trial for GSA about 6 months ago - and I was unimpressed by the quality of the Links and some of the limited
functions at that time .. and for me I felt like the other tools like Magic Submitter and UD - were much better options.

Knowing that its updated all the time - it maybe different at this time than 6 months ago ... I really can't say.

The thing to look for is the Article Submissions / Social Bookmarking / Web 2 and PDF type Links -- what sort of quality is it making and what are the success rates ?

Guestbooks / Automated Comment Spamming and other low quality links these days are really not the direction to be going in... so you need a limited ability there
albeit slightly useful for making tiers.

So yeah give it a try / test it out -- its just I'm not using it .... so I'm not the best person to ask about this.
 
Hi Danny1111, please my homepage is ranking but actual pages of my posts are not index in google. the site is about 3 months old and most of the posts i wrote about 1 week ago are yet to be index.

please can you suggest for me the best option, should i buy social bookmarking to the pages? what is the best service to use in indexing them?

run them through Stats Sites using Scrapebox

Post them on Social Bookmarking Sites or feed them through an active twitter account.
 
hello, i have a question im unsure has been answered yet. what is the difference between an amazon review website and a authority website? is there a difference? if so, how and what?

i was thinking of buying a service on bhw that sells authority sites. any you can recommend or suggest?

also, any tips on finding a niche? that seems to be my hardest issue as i can do seo. thanks

An Authority site is just that...an authority on a subject or a number of subjects... For example bodybuilding(dot)com is an authority on bodybuilding, they have experts, authors, trainers and even pro's on the site, they have forums and even user profiles that are a lot like facebook or myspace.. it is an authority in that niche

A review site is a site that reviews a product, a category of products or a bunch of products. Consumer reports is a site that tests ALL kinds of things but for our purpsoes we usually choose a product or a group of products.

Finding a niche is up to you, I suggest a niche you are familiar with it makes you more credible... Also try to drill down a bit so as not to face too much competition. So instead of tools-> look at power tools -> then look at Power saws and make a site about that. Tools would be very hard, power tools would also be very hard but a little less hard than tools and power saws MIGHT be a niche you can talk about/rank and make some amazon money.

I build lots of Sites with 8 Pages of Content - Niche Style Site -- if the site makes money I add a bit more content.... so now I have 50 smallish Sites.

Authority Site you may make 100+ pages of Content over time and if it makes money keep on going.

Totally different way to do Seo/Keywords to target...... as in the bodybuilding.com example noted above -- you might have 10 different areas of body building on the Site - while on my sites I target just 1.

Picking a Niche - go to Amazon.com ---- make a list of every Niche Amazon covers - place on Dartboard - Hit Board -- Whatever Niche Dart Hits --> Make A Site
Some niches are better than others - but they will all make money.

WARNING : I was asked a question about forming AMAZON Joint Ventures --->> I strongly urge anyone to be extremely careful doing so. Amazon with its 60 day policy - can mean if you JV with someone you work for 60 Days and they keep the money --> and you can end up with nothing. It's not like CPA where you can get paid in 7 days ... If you don't understand how money can change people then just go take a quick look at the ShitList Section of this website..... even reputable members of this forum can end up there.

SO PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL AND COVER EVERY BASE WITH YOUR POTENTIAL JV PARTNER SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO DO THAT TYPE OF THING.

What mean 8 pages of content? All pages are reviews? Or use 3-4 pages reviews and 3-4 pages of general article?
These mean 50% of pages with reviews and 50% general articles?

There is no "rule" - but I try to start with 3 Recommended Products/Reviews that Solve A Problem ... 1 Page of accessories that go with the main idea of the website - and 4 general articles related to the niche and/or problem solving. (Sometimes I use 5 pages when the topic is more difficult to write about - just adjust as needed really - 8 is the sweet spot to know whether its good or bad keywords)

What you find is you may really be trying to sell a $500 product - but you sell alot of accessories instead -- as expensive products tend to need additional items over time ... or even they read your site click some links - get a cookie and end up buying something else not related to your site... but since they are in a buying mood they buy something else .. you get the idea.

My Sites are really not about getting 100,000 visitors a month - they are just there to attract a smaller stream of people more likely to buy things.... and if any site doesn't work out they are inexpensive enough to throw away - and start a new one.
