Hey all. I found a website that had a 5 Star Rating show up in Googles SERPS, which I clicked. But I couldnt find any reviews about their services anywhere on their site. So I looked at their source code and found out how they are doing it.

First go to:

http://www.microdatagenerator.com/aggregate-rating-schema-generator/

Fill out the form and generate the code.

Then paste the code at the bottom of your page like in the pic below.

where to put the code.jpg

I tried it and it worked!!! Look at what I did for my portland sushi client.

I gave my client 5 stars.jpg

If this works I'm going to kiss you. Can't be this easy.

How long did it take for the stars to show up in the serps?

If it did work, yes, you'd need it on individual pages.

You can test how it will look in the SERPs and make sure you have valid markup here http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets

Google won't automatically start showing it if you include it though. I'm not sure what the criteria is to have the ratings show up but Google seems to have gotten more strict recently about showing the ratings which I think was caused at least in part by heavy abuse of it in payday loan and other competitive SERPs. You use to regularly see new payday loan sites with 50,000+ fake 5 star reviews in the SERPs.

Does anyone know how to show stars for Domain home page, not for inner page?

LOL it works man, that was too easy xD

just added and checked on google's rich snippet tool.. working there.. let's see how it appears on search results.

It only took a day or 2.

Any one tried - do we need put this code on each post?

You would put it on every page you want the rating to show up on.

You could put the code anywhere on the home page. I would put the code in within a sentence like I did.

Cool, glad it worked for you.

It works, and it is nothing new. For major CMS you can find plugins, add code to add some microdata which will be shown in SERPS. However Google is definitely more strict about this and removes any forms of abusing, however it should be visible for a couple of weeks though. In my case they removed most of ratings from serps after 4 weeks and they left it only on 4 pages, which is still good. This thing definitely will improve CTR.

There is but, apparently if ratings are not visible to visitors on your website, then, they will remove it from serps.

I found that Google doesn't always show ratings even when used a wp plugin that shows rating on page. Don't know how it decides what ones to show though, nothing consistent it seems.

These damn stars are broken. I will have mine for a week, then the next day its gone for 3 days before popping back up.
