Thanks for this tutorial. You have confirm there is not a typo in your first post, however could you explain why yo have not made your interpretation as described below?

"Make sure the term has over 5000 exact global monthly searches and over 3000 local USA. Allintitle and Allinurl should be under 50,000 and CPC should be over $1. If there is an authority site in the top 3 on Google, then don't even try. Oh and it would be wise to choose a keyword with an EMD/TLD available."

-Local Monthly Searches >= 3000
-Global Monthly Searches >= 5000
-Approximate CPC > $0.5

I'm not sure what you're asking. The text you quoted is the same as the text you wrote below the quote...
 
I have re-adjusted it by taking account the following:

If Google says your keyword gets 4,400 monthly exact searches, then there are roughly 8,800 searches per month for your keyword.

Also, normally the conditions should be the following:

-Local Monthly Searches >= 1500
-Global Monthly Searches >= 2500
-Approximate CPC > $0.5

I don't know where you've found this tutorial from (I have found a similar here : http://www.geekdashboard.com/keyword-research-how-to-do-it/ ) but if I am not wrong, the condition -Global Monthly Searches <= 5000 just express the search of a niche (not too big).

There was not any explanation for this important part ('absolute newbie'...)...but you are welcome.

Personally I am trying to build an authority site (due to Google present behavior, http://mjthompson.net/1608/micro-niche-sites-vs-authority-sites/,
and my own preferences....) in which each category will represent a micro niche also I need to adjust the method.

Hopefully, i do not implement someone's method without a full understanding of this last...[/sarcasm]

thanks alot for the info, when i was doing my kw research awhile ago everything was good apart from the fact there was an authority site sat at the top but it didnt stop me, i decided i would become the authority site and take my piece of the pie, this was about 3 week ago and im already making $12-16 a day from adsense which is growing daily
 
Hi OP...can you do a 2013 version of this...this is Epic however there has been a fundamental change with the whole EMD penalty...and I feel you can still profit from a sound keyword strategy...Please update this thread if you have the time. Much appreciated.

Yeah, I'll consider it. I'll have to re-read the entire tutorial to see what exactly needs to be changed, but the tutorial is still important.

That's like saying a computer science textbook from the 1990s is useless. Yes, the languages in it are outdated and hardly used any more, but you'll see the evolution of the industry, and get a feel of where its headed. The concepts are still the same however. It's just a bit of adapting the specifics. ;)

Thanks a bunch...will continue to study this post until I master it. However I'll keep an eye out for the updated version.
 
Very good post, I would like to read a bit more about the competition.What is the keyword parameter on google srch bar?I mean the number of :
("KW") -- ???
(allintitle:"KW")-- ???
(allinurl:"KW")-- ???
