Tagging people reduces reach?

Today I saw in the stories of an influencer of my country (more than a million followers) that when you tag something or someone in a post it reaches less feeds.
It's the first time I have heard this, do any of you know anything about it?

No, I highly doubt this. I have been tagging people for half a year now, and my engagement and reach have not decreased. I have more than a million followers too.

Nope, tagging does not decrease reach, have been doing for many of my accounts.

I have 3 instagram accounts over 20k followers - I tag people all the time, I will take a look at if it effects engagement but I don't believe it would

I have actually noticed that @-ing people in posts improves engagement, i've seen lots of people saying it does also.
