Hi Fellow Members,

I am developing a health website with an aim to disrupt the now top health websites. There are some big players and I know that it is not easy to push them back. My plan is:

1. Find some long tail keywords + Informative Content (Upto 2000 words).
2. Do good on-page SEO by following the complete guidelines.
3. Use of info-graphics in content.
4. Social Media pages, Youtube channel as well.
5. Also, I plan to update 20 content in first 30 days. After that, I will scale up.

My main doubt is when I need to start Off page SEO? After my site is indexed or should I wait for some more time.

Is there anything else apart from this I need to implement or this should be the strategy for the first 6 months.

Cite your sources, YMYL need to be trustworthy. Limit your ads until you gain traffic / authority in your space. Guestpost on repuatable sites. Get .edu / .gov backlinks (the best way to compete quickly). Goog time to get in the health space. A lot of players got hammered with the Medic upadte Aug 1st. They'll be reeling for awhile unless they make systemic changes.

P.S. Good luck out there the health space has deep pockets. This is the space I operate in. I'll keep an eye on this thread and answer anymore questions you may have.

Oh and make sure your site is fast and mobile friendly.

Thanks for your advice. Need to ask what is YMYL?

Also, since this is the space you operate in, one question which bother me is that - Is adsense is the only way to earn or something else is also there?

Whom are you considering your competitors?

I am focusing on the top players of the health niche. Though I will be starting gradually and scale up this in upcoming months. But the aim is big :)

Be very careful because google treats health websites differently than normal sites.

You will need to show some kind of authority/expertise or you will get dinged now or somewhere in the long run. (Just happened to tons of people with huge sites in health niche)

Always site your sources as someone said above. Any health advice you give should be backed up by a legit source.

When you start growing, Google will have real people checking out your website so make a real or realistic author profile/page as they will check this.

Starting a health site is a bad idea. What you should be starting is a site that focuses on 1 micro-niche within healthcare, create a large number of articles in that particular niche, while arranging them in silo's, which will help improve your authority within that niche, allowing you to outrank larger websites such as WebMD which basically have everything under-the-sun when it comes to healthcare.

If you need health images, plr packs and so on, just let me know
