So whats up with Digg, Is it Dead?

Digg was sold for 500k? Oh my.. Google had offered them 200 million 4 years ago. :D

Wow - I guess all the fake user accounts had Digg thinking they were worth more -

yeah...it is because digg is now under new team...and its currently being modified!

Digg is now under Betaworks it was bought a while ago old news.

The old team was all canned in favor of their new smaller team, they are trying to make it simpler and bring it back to its former glory.

Unlikely but hey going from 250 million to 500 grand thats a bargain bin buy right there. With the traffic digg gets they could put a cpa offer up for posting diggs and have that money made back in a month.

Digg was nice place to hang out before to check out new things. Now the theme is not good and also the content produced is not so interesting.Every content is moved down. Not sure what is happening with them from the time they got sold

Whoa, they sure did change it all, looks like a Pinterest type site (I think?).

Digg died two years ago, ther were great, then sold out and went to shit. The old new one was a shit souffle they tried to feed us. The new new one will be too. The people who bought it, didn't get Digg at all.

Only time will tell how it turns out

Sure hope they are back though - I used to get many digg bookmarks ranking and sending me good traffic

Ok Quick Update -

they are now allowing us to login via twitter - However when you submit a link it is nowhere to be found

Yeah. Digg sucks now. Too bad they destroyed one big bookmarking site.... I stoped using it...

No its totally OK. just a massive change. The previous owner sold the site to some one new. that's it.
thanks

Tried to digg a story cos I saw stories in upcoming section with 0,1 or less than 10 diggs. My story is nowhere to be found. Looks like a story needs multiple submission by multiple people before it shows up on upcoming, either that or the domain must been dugg before.

From Alexa reviews:
Digg used to be one of the best sites to get great news stories and content apart from Reddit. But now, on the eve of their new v1 release, they have completely shafted the remaining faithful user base. Without warning they completely removed years of users info and killed off all the links to the stories all ending up now as 404 pages. The new owners removed the ability for the users to comment and the redesign is clumsy and hard to navigate. This was digg's last chance to get it right. I lot of people's hopes have been dashed. It's very sad.

From my own experience:

It successfully died 2 years ago, and will never be able to return to its glory under the same brand name.

So all in all someone bought the domain digg.com and his team is setting up a site on this domain now... correct....they didn't bought the content of the site but only the domain..... thats why its dead cheap. Thats my take
