You can get out of the penalty, but it will take some time.

I have been following this theory since Feb 17 and I have been seeing some positive movement in the SERPs. Now, I am not fully recovered, but like the theory says, it will take some time to fix the problem in relation to how bad you are into it.
Most of my long tail keywords are fully recovered. My short tail keywords are about half back, so maybe 2-3 months more and they will have fully recovered.

MattCutts just replied on his G+ Profile that it was a MISTAKE:
I saw a recent post where several sites were asking about their search rankings. The short explanation is that it turns out that our classifier for parked domains was reading from a couple files which mistakenly were empty. As a result, we classified some sites as parked when they weren't.
I apologize for this; it looks like the issue is fixed now, and we'll look into how to prevent this from happening again.

Yea but that douche doesn't explain what exactly that did.... When did it happen? Some people lost rank last week and others, like me, at the end of March. How long was this problem going on? How long till the serps are repaired....
PS. That reasoning sounds weak as hell. I bet they tweeked their anti spam/anti SEO signals and fucked up.

Duckduckgo is pretty nice. My sites actually rank really well there! Now to convert everyone that uses big G!
I think that liar Matt Cutts is bullshitting again, I think this is the update but they can't handle how many complaints are being put in so they are claiming it is a 'mistake'. Beware! Matt Cu*ts says one thing and does the other along with his webspam cronies. Don't believe that shit for a second!

That is why I never read his blog or listen to anything he says.
Do you think he's really going to help webmasters? No! It would not be in Googles best interest. If anything, its misdirection. Tell us one thing, when it's another.

Parked domains? White files? hahaha I think they tried to rollout un update but it was buggy!

they prob had a good laugh reading this thread. Someone should contact the media and make them aware of this google glitch. Stock should take a small hit.
Site is still gone for its major keyword. Anyone else in the same boat? This.sucks greatly

Our main "extra income" website just back to TOP100 (in 31st March got information about unnatural links because of blog networks (they created on several blogs over 12,000 backlinks with same anchor text ;/), still far from penalty positions (20-30, before April TOP3 on very competitive and profitable keyword) (70-100) but it is something 
BTW only 1 from 7 websites were hit by that, what I noticed is that other 6 websites were on same positions, we didn't used ever single post on blog networks (only custom software) and they all survived this mayhem
Also they are in niche were you do not making money directly from traffic but actually providing some real service (website which were hit by recent change is in finance sector and making deadly easy money on traffic (applications))...
Just my 2 cents...

I have one multilingual site and in total I check the rankings on 17 search engines - All Google, just country / language specific.
All 16 are moving forward except ONLY .com where as of three days ago, a third of keywords have dropped from top 100 or are fluctuating massively.
I use Rank Tracker with 100 proxies (mainly USA & Sweden).
However .... when checking the positions manually using all means available, almost all of my .com positions are on the first page ?!
