Short of it: I "feature" videos in my niche on my blog (linking back to author of course) and instead of "reviewing" the video or whatever, I just type out the transcript.

It's really that simple: I have a website about purple dinosaurs.

  1. I search youtube for "purple dinosaur".
  2. I watch videos - finding one my readers would genuinely enjoy - that will add value to my blog.
  3. I embed the video in a blog post.
  4. I type what the video says. Like all the sub-titles all at once.
  5. I give credit to the original author along with a no-follow link.

CONTENT! Lot's of fresh content, as much as you want. FOR FREE!
I am an authority for my niche, so I have a TON of original content, so even if someone were to see their video on my site, they would be happy for the reference. Also, this makes my job easier. I am not content farming, I just don't always feel like blogging, so sometimes I shortcut like this.

PS. I don't write long boring sh*t in hopes of getting your thanks or rep points. I write relevant sh*t that's short and on point without wasting your time. If this helps you: there are buttons to show your thanks. If not, have a nice day.

Thank you for this! This is a helpful advice to entice more readers when it comes to content writing because people are very visual. :)

Purple dinosaurs are sort of my passion since I was a kid. A blog like yours might be a real goldmine ! :D

j/k ;)

Sounds quite innovative and interesting method.

Out of interest, how long are the videos usually?

I stick to my niche. Sometimes the vids are short (about two minutes) and I only get three or so paragraphs. Sometimes they are longer and I end up with a huge post.
It's really not about whether or not the post is long or short. It's about adding quality to your blog.

i found out that my niche is so tight there are only competitors vids on youtube :/

This is a nice method i have already implemented. I also mix this method with another one to get fresh content: I take a book about my niche, I completely rewrite it, also adding my own thoughts about the topic, and I get some new content quite easily.

Dragon usually learns one voice and sticks with it. I have tried what you are talking a bout and it does not work well. It's easier to type it out.

Or once Dragon is 'trained', you could listen to a couple of sentences from the vid, pause it, and speak into the mic.

Great method! I will give it a try as soon as I have some spare time, and hopefully it will work...
