Sacramento bee published an article on Google Penguin. Thought a piece of it would be helpful for everyone. Do you think it is about time when we should change the layout of our websites?

This is an important update for search engine optimization companies. Google recently released a vague blog on this topic. In the post they mentioned the following items.

  • Earlier in the year there was a reduction in rankings for sites that don't make much content available above the fold.
  • Sites that stuff content with keywords will be negatively affected by this change.
  • Sites that add text links in irrelevant content will be negatively affected by this change.
  • Sites that spin content will be negatively affected by this change.
"These practices have always been black hat, which is why SEO Inc. does not engage in them. The only real change is that Google is now taking a more aggressive approach to penalizing these 'over-optimized' websites," commented Lincoln.

The name of the article was
Google's New Over-Optimization Penalty: Is Your Website at Risk?

Actually Milian, there's a lot of data that's gone to show that enhancements were made to the page layout update during Penguin.

My guess is that they utilized the data from the update in January, and rolled out a refresh of it during this latest update. Google even refers to it in the post on Penguin.

We are discussing this, and other similar theories in this thread... http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ating-effects-search-engine-optimization.html

Google even refers to it in the post on Penguin.

They only refer to it in the Penguin post in reference to the other update. But yeah I;m sure they are tweeking it all the time.

recent algo changes definitely reduced the quality of searchs . but they are doing it for forcing people to use adwords
