Hello I have been building 3 directory websites for the past month and have been getting more and more traffic each day. These websites are all .co.za domains / South African websites. I found a few websites on the internet that sell South African traffic and wondered if buying some of those traffic for my websites would increase my rankings? I am no SEO expert but am learning a lot and reading about SEO contently.

I am also doing manual link building on the side, web 2.0, a bit of social marketing ect but I need and want quicker results.

Any ideas / comments would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

buying traffic will increase your rankings only if your sites keep those visitors long time on the sites themselves, that way you will have low bounce rate and G might award you for that..

however, for increasing site rankings better get quality backlinks to them.. just pick some of the quality providers in the BST section

No, Google does not use bounce rate as a ranking factor.

Buying traffic will not increase your rankings unless the visitors go on to link to your site.

If at all, treat it as a separate strategy. If there's increase in ranking, consider it as a side bonus.

Google rewards good web sites. That gives users good experience and Google will take that into account when ranking web sites. I guess it will become more prominent in the future.

But yeah, keep building links. Buy traffic as a separate strategy.

Let me throw in another idea. If I were you, I'll buy high quality traffic in related sites. If you have the budget, it will help you build your business much faster.

Test different call to action, header, copy, etc. and figure out which combinations work best.

Optimized web site will help you not just in search, but also making your business more effective... and cost efficient. If you're able to turn profit with media buying, just scale it up by purchasing more.

If your country is like a non-English speaking country I have my business in, then you can tap into many cheap but good traffic. Many webmasters haven't even started selling ad spots, so you can help them monetize and get cheap traffic.

Thanks for the replies everyone - audioguy you gave me some great ideas. It might be hard for me at the moment to follow an aggressive media buying strategy as I have not yet started earning with these website as I intend to monetize them soon through selling adspace, but in the near future media buying would be a feasible option.

At the moment I am focusing a lot on adding content constantly, doing backlinking, linking everything socially with an auto poster plugin for wordpress, youtube videos, document sharing, web 2.0's... So all of this is keeping me a bit busy but like you said I think that buying good, quality, related website traffic is the next step.

Does anyone know the time it takes for a website to grow in PR rankings?

Buying traffic does nothing for SEO.

Tell me this, how does Google accurately track the bounce rates for every website in their search results?

    Consider the following:
    - Not every website uses Google Analytics
    - Not every website uses Google scripts
    - Not every user hits the "back button" to return to Google search results
    - Not every user uses Chrome

Also, I've had several websites where paid traffic was the only source of traffic. AND I used Google analytics. Guess what my rankings were in the search engines...not in the top 100.

Buying traffic will not increase your rankings. However, if your content is good enough for the traffic that you bought, they may be tempted to stay a bit longer or at least promote your website. But to be honest, buying traffic isn't a strategy I'd use for South African traffic.

Consider what you've been adviced here on buying media space in other blogs in your region. At least that traffic is more targeted and will stick better than bought traffic from networks you cannot 100% trust.

Patience is also important. You are in Africa where traffic is going to increase exponentially. You should be more concerned right now with the quality of your site and social proof to increase your authority.

Kasheshe great advice - WOW you guys are really helping me a lot and I thank you all. I am building these websites of mine with focus on good / original content which consist of articles and business listings. The articles I pay to be written (copy scape passable). Giving the fact that it is directory websites and I allow each business a description of 300 words - the content of each business listing page will be pretty unique (I hope).

Socially I autopost everything across a few social profiles for each website as soon as it's added to the website and plan in the near future to buy/get twitter follower/retweets ect ect ect ect.

The websites I am competing against have no or very little social campaign/profiles of what I am aware of and I believe it is but a matter of time before I start outranking them if I can keep everything up. They are in fact much older domains than mine.

The media buying is going to be what I focus on in a month or so.

Thanks again for all the comments, please feel free to tell me if I am wrong in any way. I am very open to suggestions as most of you guys are experts and I am just learning as I go.
