Hi All,

Let me start of by saying that I'm really glad I found this forum. It's full of all kinds of various resources so thanks for that!

But there's one thing. It can become quite overwhelming with all the terms and jargon being thrown around. I'm a DevOps Engineer by day so I do know my stuff when it comes to building website(s) and a platform, etc. (not going in too much detail!). But SEO has always intrigued me so I would like to invest some spare time into this area.

What are some courses or first steps that you could recommend to a beginner? Let's say I would like to start earning some passive income with a simple website. What do I look for? What are the core components in setting up such an endeavor?

I really appreciate the time and feedback :)

dont try and digest to much at once do things one step at a time strategically so you can see the results of what your implementing.
start with your on page seo before diving into throwing links at your site !
theres loads of services and opinions on this forum what works for me might not work for you.
Read around your in a goldmine of info, and most of the people here are mega knowledgable and happy to answer questions.

Happy Ranking

The first thing is niche selection. This is a really important one.
Then comes the part of keyword selection. You select KWs with enough search volume and something that is not too hard to rank.
Then comes the part where you write content for your site.
Then you make sure on-page is correct.
Then comes the part where you start building links.

You can find in-depth guides on all these subjects on BHW.

SEO is a vast platform. It takes time to learn things. Start from the basics. Eventually you will learn. There are plenty of resources on the internet. You can prefer anyone which you find interesting. All the best!

Hi!

SEO still works today, but for me, not as effective as before 5 to 10 years ago. That is because the internet is now very saturated. To rank in google depends on your niche. If your niche is very common to all such as 'health', 'pets', 'fitness' etc., it is most likely hard to get your page on the top of google search. Keywords for these niches are used by millions in the Internet that is why it is now difficult to rank in google using these. However, there are things you can get started with to get traffic for your website.

One is social media presence. You need to create social media accounts and post relevant contents regularly to get more followers and viewers to your website. Second is to be also present on forums related to your niche. For example, if your niche is photography, you would need to be active on forums and/or chat groups that shares things related to it. Third is to have a blog on your website where you post contents and share them on your social media accounts and forums.

These are the things you can start with to boost traffic on your website. Once you have established a community in the internet, that's when you will see good results.

Thanks a lot for your time and feedback on this. One more question, once you get viewers on your website. How do you actually generate an income from that? What am I paid for essentially? And by who?

You have different way, affiliate link like promote amazon product, put some ads in side, and so many different way to get money with traffic, think is the key (trafic).
So you will have Ads Networks or CPA Networks ... that will pay you depending of the offers
