What other FREE self hosted blogging platforms are there except wordpress? Self hosted, like the one you install on your server, your domain.

I've tested joomla and drupal but they are really really heavy, not fit for a simple blog. Also tested some other crap like openblog or dotclear or some other stuff, but they're full of problems.

There are many projects which are not yet popular but are self hosted platforms.

WP being hot favorite makes life difficult for these little known CMS. You may google open source blogging CMS.

The only one from that list that is really decent is ghost. The rest are just a bunch of apps built in 2006 (metaphorically speaking) that haven't been updated since...

I never felt the need to look for alternatives to wordpress. It can do a lot more than it was capable of in the past. For alternatives, you could search on google. You may even get an idea from softaculous through their quick install options.

Everyone uses Wordpress for good reason - it's a brilliant platform, I haven't found any other that comes near it.
