Hello all!

I had this thread previously opened, but unfortunately I misunderstood the forum rules for this section and found out that getting your Skype IDs was not allowed to discuss feedback. So - I'm reopening the thread and ask that we all keep our communication within Private Messages (or this thread) :).

------

For context for those who missed the original thread: I intend to release a desktop version of our cloud scraping software (BHW thread here). This desktop version will come at a one-time cost of between $10-$70 and include what you would expect in a scraping software (multi-threading, proxy support, etc). Additional features that it will include will be things such as:

  1. Social media scraping (Instagram, Facebook, etc)
  2. Ecommerce scraping (Amazon, ebay, etc)
  3. Job site scraping
  4. Google Maps scraping
  5. Custom scraper building tool - so that you can scrape websites that you want
  6. Javascript support - so that it can scrape sites that require complex javascript loading via a headless browser.
  7. ... and much more

Believe me, being a member here at BHW since 2011, I, too, have Scrapebox and have used it over the years. However, I think that there are additional needs in 2020 such as javascript support that it cannot support. I do not intend to replace Scrapebox, but rather create another tool that does many of the same features, as well as many new features.

For your help in providing feedback, I will gladly provide you with a free license to the software, as well as free servers and/or proxies depending on the level of help you provide.

The software will be ready for beta testers around June 3. The original version will include proxy support, multi-threading, scraping Google for keywords, and doing Link Index Checking. The next features will depend on your recommendations!

Please fill out these questions (it only requires your BHW username so that all communication remains inside of BHW) if you are interested in providing feedback for the software:

FORM HERE

Thank you all!!

That is an interested list.

How will the Javascript work.
Will it be able to get/convert json feeds as well?

Nice idea, but what you do here is very near to what is called "unfair competition" ( and the title is also misleading ). Why don't you simply name this thread as your service name, aka "Scraping robot"? Or even a name like "ScrapeSocialBox", or whatever.

I do not intend to replace Scrapebox
I doubt you can replace it.

That's said, good luck with your product!!

Completed the form.
Sorry for the slightly verbose responses :D

Thank you all for submissions! Our developer demoed a very rough MVP today and things are looking quite nice already for this stage of the game. I carefully say: the MVP will be very rough and simple features (a simple Google scraper), but what is important is that we get all of YOUR great feedback every 2-week sprint we do, so that every 2 weeks we are pushing out a new update based on feedback gathered and voted on by the full customer base. Thank you thank you thank you!

Actually that's the first time I've heard that recommendation, and I really like it. Currently the plans are taking data that we scrape from websites and converting them into CSV (or even json), but we had not planned in the near future to take external data sources (like a json output) and also pull those into the software. Will get it written down!

Thank you for the comment, and I apologize if it mislead you. To be honest, we don't have a name for it yet (which reminds me: I'll get that added to the form!), so it was the best way to communicate exactly what we hope to do (provide scraping solutions similar to Scrapebox, with a twist).

No problem! But generally speaking, this is how a product shouldn't be promoted, in my opinion. That aside, your last response was very professional though, so this is a big plus!
Cheers!!

Is this software going to be cross-platform? I have a scrapebox license but can't really use it since it was purchased for windows and I operate on a mac/linux pretty much exclusively now.

submitted the form. looking forward to checking out what it can do

Thank you everyone for your interest! Please remember to fill out the form in the main post - I'll use that as the source to reach out to you via PM to test the software next week.

As of now: yes. We are building it using Electron . However, for MVP sake next week, we're only stress testing on Windows - but we would love to have you on board to test on Mac/Linux so that we can identify and fix bugs on those platforms for the next release!
