SAPE Finally Busted?

I've got the message for two of my sites, one was using service that include SAPE links, the other one was a site with almost no linkbuilding and it didn't use SAPE or such spammy links at all. What I am curious is why rankings still doesn't drop and should we expect ranking drop at all? I don't know what to do, should I cancel the service for the links or not, because 4th is the billing date...

What you guys would advice me? Should I cancel the service, do you expect some rank dropping, is there any chance that Google will just devalue some (!) of the links or it will remove us from TOP10 of the SERP pages?

Just to add, Google is not only targetting sites with sape links, they targetting any sites even if you didnt use sape network, or any high pr link out there. I guess it's one of those thing if your in SEO, you lose and you gain.

I agree, but interesting is that there is no ranking drop and I don't know should I keep these links or star a new site. The next billing date is 4th September for me :( I just don't know what to do. Is there any possibility that they will send us such messages but keep our rankings?

Just remove the links and the manual penalty should be removed.

some of obvious footprints from sape-like networks:
- RU hosting
- .ru extension
though my seller is very friendly and tried his best to supply me with links from US hosting and non .ru sites, i still get 50% .ru and 80% RU Ips and many of them are hosting a the same RU IP.
it's not magic to see unnatural and unlogic things from site hosted at US and get most of its high PR links from RU.
We all know about localization search engines for long time, dont we?

I even noticed 2 Spam websites ranking for "payday loans" yesterday. This apparently is a niche they are manually reviewing?
I no think google have too much time to manually review each keyword ...
People Always forgot that tier is hundreds of billion pages on internet And Over then 600 millions unique website .
yeah it's very huge numbers and Google will never waste their time to review any keyword from those .
They just want to scare some new websites owner and make SEO Companies out of business ..
Its cat and mouse game between Google and SEO Companies .

I ordered a service in July from a provider in BHW that used SAPE, I knew my risks, I only ranked during August, got the unnatural links message last Friday Aug 30th, rankings seemed fine until yesterday, now we have dropped only for the keywords I used the SAPE provider for. Silly question, if i just cancel my subscription and go elsewhere for the high PR links, could rankings return? Again, I'm no expert and please no need to call me names and such, but remember, whatever happens outside your site could be unrelated to you (the whole point on Neg SEO). When I read about the penalty in GWT, it said "if you have no control on these links, no action is required from you". So again this could be a competitor that is trying to take me out from these searches. I'm just wondering if such a strategy of "replacing" the links could work or if the domain is just marked now and won't rank for these keywords ever again. I'm also thinking of targeting a sub-page but the link profile is not as diversified as the main URL.

This is the same as me. Only the keywords I targeted using sape links have dropped and the rankings have returned to what they were before I bought the links.

My sape links actually got removed a week before the notice though as for some reason sape had some issues with my payment so they got removed so I am hoping the notice will go anyway.

I have another site though which I placed sape links on over 4 months ago as a test (removed after first month) and this also got the notice. Rankings have actually improved on this site for now.

Wow this is weird. I haven't checked the forums for a few days and now I see this.

Let me make this really simple. NONE of my websites have been affected by this, and some of them are 100% sape.

There are a number of service providers over here who add their own mix to sape links, like links from their own private networks. And, this could be it. Or maybe not.

Have you guys thought that it could be the TYPE of links your service provider provided you? I mean, really, some of these providers give you the nastiest links ever just to keep their profits high.

On Sape you could buy PR3 backlinks for 3 rubels, or you could by them for 20, 40, 60 rubels or even more. Which backlink you think Google would penalize?

So basically you are saying links were there only for a month and now the rankings are even better?

I think that maybe we are taking the bait from G. You get the notice, and links go away in a few days, in a way you are implying you have control of the links.

Ranking were gone this morning, now the they have returned to yesterday's levels. I have decided to keep the SAPE links for a month and keep my link building efforts. Hopefully the rankings will stay.

I removed them links 3 or so months ago before this notice. I only used that site as a test for my main site to see how much it boosted the ranks that's all. Basically the test site has always ranked page 4/5 but as of today some keywords are on the first page (having done nothing since removing the sape links 3 months ago)

The sape links got removed last week on my main site which was out of my control so you could be right in thinking that Google will think I have control of the links and have taken them down myself, which I haven't.

We will see anyway. It has been dancing all day but it's just one keyword that seems to have sunk at the moment the rest seem to have come back.

Why do people in this forum keep calling it propaganda?

Yes, some of it is a scare tactic to deter people away from link buying schemes. I have no doubts about this.

However let's look at the facts here:

Almost everyone that has replied in this topic has received the message and the only common ground between all of us has been SAPE links. What this translates to me is that Google have worked out enough about SAPE or other link buying networks to flag them (whether it be how they are positioned on pages, High PR sites that have exact anchor links.. or?whatever it is? they have obviously figured out some form of a pattern that is flagable in link buying networks.

As google gets more sophisticated in culling spam, I would hope that networks like SAPE are also investing BIG MONEY in new techniques to keep their programs just as sophisticated.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Im just going to start with a new batch of sites?. churn and burn :)

Yes, but I think the population of BHW replying to this thread is not representing the population of BHW using SAPE.
I bet more than a half of BHW population is using SAPE, and if something really bad happens to SAPE (let's say 20% of SAPE is banned) then at least 15% of this forum will be in uproar, which doesn't happen.
I know that Google is actively hunting SAPE, but I think that this is an isolated incident, not a big SAPE takedown.
Just take a look a lot of obvious SAPE thread on the BST, most of them still reporting strong improvement.

The only 2 sites I put SAPE links on got the unnatural link message. All other link building on these and my other sites were the same. So in my case, the difference was the SAPE links.

Message was dated Aug. 29 but rankings have not dropped yet (knock on wood). At this point I think my best course of action is to do nothing and wait and see what happens with the rankings.

Time to start building my own PR network so these problems can be avoided.

all of my websites using sape got the warning and rankings are down across the board.

fuck!

what are your guys plan of attack now?
