Reddit is a failed social media platform

If im looking for an answer to something.. about 25% of the time i type in site:reddit.com "question" so i dont get shit results in google.

Reddit is great if you have your own subreddit. You are in control and you can put your website in the menu link.

i mean its not a waste of time for certain categories like porn/drugs or to spread false info/make something viral.

I do that too actually, very often.

I didn't use to do it, but there's no forums left on the internet (or at least they don't show on google)

Maybe I should try a different search engine...

I agree about your statement "Their user base has no purchasing power" The bulk of redditors are young teens to college students who don't have much purchasing power. I have proven that over and over. Most of them are looking for free stuff or help with something without paying.

It depends on what is your definition of a "failed platform". You can get 5000+ upvotes in a few minutes in some subreddits. That means a lot of online users, a lot. That doesn't sound like "failed" to me. Maybe you mean bad social media, or wrong social media, but not failed.

just curious and which social media platform is not like that? just like fb depen on which group you go, there is subreddit for those capitalist and anti capitalist

I mean it in the sense that reddit won't last long without doing something about the vote brigading and so on. Also the fact that their user base is a bunch of broke genx and genz.

I've always inhibited the use of Reddit because as you say, certain posts draw too much attention while others, much more important are completely ignored. And the worst, part is that anyone with a little experience in Reddit, knows exactly which kind of posts have more odds of drawing attention and which not. Problem that the ones that do, are generally highly banal and the people that incentive and write them, are mostly posting them for EGO purposes, not to improve the info of the community.

Obviously, if you are in /r/egocommunity, what can you expect?

But if you are in a /r/technicalcommunity and follow this same principles, we can clearly find a dysfunctional behaviour that induces Reddit by itself, which makes your statement, true.

For reasons. Among them:

• Up and down voting brigades are rampant on popular subs
• You can easily fool their system and how exactly it's done is all over the place

- This forum has tons of examples of where you can pay for upvotes. Don't blame Reddit for that. Blame people who can't get onto the first page without paying for upvotes
- Again, look the the response to your first statement. That is not something you can blame Reddit for. Blame the people using Reddit.
- Politics and people that argue or talk politics suck. Left or right, conservative or liberal, all retards. That's not Reddit's fault. That is a problem on every single social media network on the internet. Because Americans are so dumb that they got divided completely by social media.
- That's not true. As with any marketing it's very much going to depend on what you brought to a table. I've made thousands of dollars of sales of Redbubble t-shirts with Reddit. Reddit has millions of daily users and saying that all of them have no money to spend is nearsighted or extremely ignorant.
- Give any people power and it eventually goes to their heads. Anyone that wants to be a Reddit mod, shouldn't be a Reddit mod. Unfortunately there are not many well balanced people out there that would want to mod a Reddit sub, because smart people wouldn't want to do that work for free. Only frustrated incels or people that hate their own lives would opt to be a mod for no pay in exchange for the "power".

Reddit is 16 years old. The long run has very much come for them and the platform is still around.

Yeah. The viral potential is definitely there. Facebook and virality is almost gone.
However, you can still make things go viral on that so-called failed platform.
As some members pointed out, you can get a nice amount of traffic to your ads.

Reddit is best social media

Failed......by being one of the most highly-traffic websites in the world for over a decade. 11 years ago last month they moved to an average of 1 billion page views per month. Now it is borderline insane. This is an incredible post.

Quora is over-moderated. They delete even relevant, honest, comments, if a moderator doesn't like your tone. Hate Quora.
