OK, to start, thanks to the person that replied in my previous post with the information on the Amazon Affiliate dashboard info. I found it and was FINALLY able to log in. When I did for the first time...
I was happy & not happy, if that's possible. I joined the AAP 3 months ago, and thought they'd email me if I ever had a sale from one of my links, which they never did. So, I never bothered to check my account as I assumed nobody bought anything. Well...
When I got in there I saw that I had made 2 sales, for a total for about $7 in commissions. 1 of those sales must've been canceled or returned, as it shows as a negative balance. Which means thus far, I've made a whopping fifty cents in 90 days lol.
First question...It appears that Amazon is still - thankfully - counting the returned item towards my 3 sale target in 6 months to get approved. Is this the case, or will they somehow adjust the sale later and not include it?
Second question...Are my conversions bad, decent, or good? They are...
Currently averaging about 1,400 site visitors per month on a 10 month old blog. All U.S. traffic, with long, SEO optimized articles. Lots of top 5 & 10 articles in the serps. Many of these articles contain my affiliate links.
It shows I'm getting about 145 affiliate clicks per month, which is about 10% of my total traffic. The conversion rate (sales) is roughly 1.35% of those 145 clicks.
Soooo...million dollar question...Is all of this the norm? Or can I look forward to better times once my traffic levels grow?
IMO, unless someone has a shitload of traffic (50,000+ per month) or are in a niche with higher commissions like cosmetics, etc., it seems like even making $500-$1,000 per month as an Amazon affiliate is really difficult.
Now I TOTALLY see why everyone stresses diversification when it comes to blog monetization. If I had to depend on Amazon - at this point - to eat, I'd starve to death. Multiple incomes streams is my goal from here on out.
