Yoast is fine, i use the same. But on page is not just about the SEO plugin but several other factor, yoast does outline the factors you need to consider to make SEO factor good but you have to make it even better. Link to high authority sites in your niche like cnet, wikipedia, cnn, etc. Make page content length around 2000+ words for medium-high competition keywords and 1000 for low competition keywords. Insert a lot of related keywords in the content, for example your keyword is "product" , insert related keywords like "buy product" "product for sale" "product review" , this will give you a lot of long tail traffic.

I literally make changes every week on my important pages of the site, you have to keep updating important pages and keep improving them if you want to rank top.
