Ranking Blogs at Google in 2020, The Correct Way???

Hello Friends,

SEO is ever-changing. So, those of you who still create new blogs and rank them higher on Google SERP, can you provide me a rough blueprint on how to rank a blog the correct way in 2020 to last long?

I want to start a tech niche blog individually and have very tight budget. So, I want to spend time & money in the most optimised way. So, if you'll be in my situation, how will you do it?

Questions -

- How frequently I should write articles? Suggested Keyword Competition, Monthly Searches & Length of article ?

- I will be looking forward to make money mainly via sponsored articles/reviews, so I will need to provide those clients follow backlinks. What is the natural vs. unnatural link (DF/NF) ratio I need to maintain sitewide to stay in the radar?

- When should I start creating backlinks? Which type of Services/Software to use for that and what kind of backlinks to create? I want to increase domain's DA/PA and Majestic RD/TF/CF. Preferred: automatic services.

- Which Social media to focus? Are Newsletter worth it? Sending them emails feels very costly via MailChimp even if I just want to send blog posts updates.

- Should I focus on other sources to get referral traffic too? Any other search engine, bookmarking website, etc. which give very good traffic with very little efforts?

- I want to target top 4 countries (US, UK, CA, AU) how should I go about it? Should I create content targeting all these locations simultaneously and adding backlinks packages to them?

- In a vague manner, how to do backlinks for a general-niche blog? It's going to have multiple Keywords for each article for which I want it to rank (and there is going to be hundreds to thousands of articles in future) unlike some product sites with small group of keywords. So, I would need to increase SERP of overall website as well as articles. How you create backlinks for such sites?

I am looking forward to keep this blog alive for a very long-long time, so quick & dirty tricks which hampers reputation and authority in a long run won't be a way to go for me.

Thanks for your reply. I am using Ahrefs. Is it good enough? As it has Keyword, Competitor, Backlinks and Ranking analysis. I am planning to target keywords with monthly searches at least 1000 in USA and Keyword Competition less than 20. Is it good approach?

How & when should I start creating backlinks? Should I start when the articles start getting index & receive some traffic? Should I start with Niche Edits/Guest Post links first manually?

Keyword tools are not especially accurate for difficulty ratings or volumes. You need to do manual analysis in addition to whatever you see from Ahrefs. For example, Ahrefs shows the term 'Pearl Necklace' as 0 competition in the UK and Medium (12) competition for the US. Without even looking at the websites ranking in the SERPS you should immediately understand that the difficulty rating is not accurate.

The term 'Pearl Necklace' is heavily related to eCommerce and you'll have a hard time ranking for it unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Volumes in Ahrefs are also fairly inaccurate. My top-performing keyword shows 150 monthly searches in Ahrefs for the targeted longtail and 5k for the shorttail, which I also rank for. Ahrefs shows me that I should be getting 1.9k visitors a month to this article. In actual fact it's averaging 1k a day.

I personally wouldn't worry about backlinks until you've completely nailed keyword research... you'll save money in the long run.

Thanks for suggestions. So, shortlisting keywords from Ahrefs then manually search for them in Google & check DA/PA of top domains will be best approach? How you personally do keyword research and verify them to increase their accuracy?
