RAM versus SDD

I bought a new one after every thread. But it still becomes slow as it gets old. So I should consider buying a new pc every year now?
Looks like it´s not the PC but the way you use it or what task you´re running with it.

I bought my PC like 10 years ago and when I did I made sure I had a decent PC for many years to come. I still have the same processor (i7) and I ALWAYS use an SSD as the main HD, and I just upgrade it to 16gb of memory.

So, unless you´re running some crazy resource-demanding tasks like 3Digng or gaming, I don´t think you will need to upgrade your PC every year.

I agree 100% with most of the comments saying if you have a PC with 16gb of memory then upgrading the SSD is definitely the best choice to further increase your PC speed.

But, again, it highly depends on what you do with it.

I mainly use it for browsing and some small tasks like office etc. No gaming.

If you already have 16gb then an SSD will be moooooore than enough. In fact, been using SSD for quite some time now and I will NEVER go back.

Get a decent CPU and you´re done for the next 5 years or so.

My current issue is mainly chrome. It lags a lot and I had not been able to find a reason for this. With same specs, it used to run smooth on past but do not know why it lags so much now. May be some components in the pc went old and thus this happened.

I advise people to replace a business machine every 3 - 5 years depending on your budget.

If like others have said you have 16gb ram then definitely it’s the SSD that you need.
The other possibility is that you have a virus, a chrome plug-in that’s mining or something like that. I also found some legitimate plugins can cause issues in chrome.

I tried some ways to solve this problem. Like I followed sime settings shared on google for lagging chrome. It instantly solved the problem. But when no opened chrome next time, problem was still there. Next time I took another method of deleting all the bookmarks and it also solved the problem but only for one time use. I want to solve this issue permanently.

Format your PC after installing the new SSD and installing the RAM

In my experience, if you have at least 16GB of ram, then you'll see a big increase when upgrading to an SSD

Most of the time it is going to take both. I would prioritize an SSD unless you have a very low amount of RAM in your current machine.

Most likely both. But if you have to choose, take the ssd.
