RAM versus SDD

Get an SSD 240gb should be enough.
For storage get an HDD.
RAM minimum 16gb is ok.
Install OS in SSD & use the HDD for storage.
For SSD avoid cheap ones especially crucial.
I still use one of my old PC from 2015:
i3 3240 3rd gen
8gb ddr3 ram
H61 MB
240gb SSD
1 TB HDD
Format my C drive once a year. Just a habbit not recommending it

When I check the models available on internet, none has 32 GB ram. I will try to buy a costly one this time though.

SSD. Put the windows on a SSD and you'll see a big performance boost. nVME is the latest thing, so you may also consider it.
Regarding RAM, make sure it's built on the last technology (DDR4, don't know if the DDR5 appeared yet).

If it's Laptop it will be always limited
Mine is a big computer that bought the component and build it myself
it's better for the long term

Thank you dear. This laptop's ram only can increase maximum to 8 GB. (dell inspiron 15 - core i3-4005 U) 4th generation)
So I'm planing to add 4GB ram more to this and 128 SSD.

I can't do it soon, but I will replace in near future. for now this is the only option I have.

1 TB HD - 6500.
That will be sufficient to boost up the speed, assuming you have sufficient RAM.

For a slow pc / computer / laptop, upgrade both ram and sdd : and @krishnaverma if that does not solve the issue, then your next move will be as usual a new thread "I upgraded both ram and sdd, but pc is still slow" , in that case buy a new pc and then you could as usual open a new thread " Hey, I bought a new pc" !!!

If you have HDD, then upgrading to SSD would be better. And if you have SSD already upgrading RAM would be better.

Generally out of those two components, you would see a greater improvement in performance from upgrading to an SSD drive because a spinning disk drive is without doubt the oldest peice of technology in a typical computer. However, you are just as well to upgrade both, because an additional 4GB of ram will hardly cost anything in comparison to the SSD drive and given the durability of RAM, its quite safe to purchase a secondhand stick. Whereas the SSD, its better to go for a new drive, seeing as they have a finite lifespan.
Also, you will generally find that when it comes to RAM, you need more of it to run more programs simultaniously, so if it is an option only to get one of those two components, you could get the SSD drive and then service your comptuer and remove any programs from start-up that you can do without.
The disk drive on the other hand, is getting used by every program on the computer and the relatively poor performance of a spinning disk drive means that it will cause a bottleneck on most computers even if they are almost sitting idle. When I look at a computer with spinning disk, running windows 10, even if its less than a year old, I often see the disk queue peaking at 20 or even 50; broadly translated, meaning that for every task being carried out on the disk, there are another 20-50 tasks waiting for disk time.

I use MacBook and old Laptop that has 4gb of ram and 1tb of HDD. I upgraded ram to 8gb and speed went a bit higher, but when I upgraded to SSD speed higher much bigger

My current issue is mainly chrome. It lags a lot and I had not been able to find a reason for this. With same specs, it used to run smooth on past but do not know why it lags so much now. May be some components in the pc went old and thus this happened.
