Question Related to Domain Extensions

Hi Guys! I have a question and I hope you guys can help me out to find the best solution, this is the case:

I have a business in Mexico that gives service to people in the US and Canada, all the customers are there. My extension is let's say:

free-puppies.com and i have it for the last 6 years. I want to change it to something like puppies.mx and redirect the old one to this one and make SEO campaing for the .mx

Question is:

Is it worth to have a smaller domain and .mx extension if I want people in the US find me? or Should I stay with the .com extesion and larger domain name?

Thanks man, will you say same if the .com is twice as large as the .mx and has also a "-" in the name?

I wouldn't change an already established site, especially not after 6 years for a new one, just because of a more brandable name.

Thanks for the feedback, even the LTD is related to the contry where they look for services? .mx vs current .com ?

.com - is commercial, works for any country, Personally I would keep .com

You can go for .com - it's best for your business.
