Q&A Site: How the Hell Do I Get SEO Now?

Hey Guys,

I have a men's lifestyle site and have figured out the SEO hustle and am doing pretty decent. I just launched a new Q&A site and am having a tough time making things optimized.

Since it's Q&A based content, I am getting red flags for everything from Yoast (not enough words, no pictures, keyword density, etc.). I wanted to see if you guys had any words of wisdom on how I can help bring people to this site while searching for similar questions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

first advice is to remove your url
second i think you should post articles like in any other niche... write more, get more complex questions than can answer more than one question.
then apply your normal seo strategy

Why don't you tell us more about the site?

These posts are eye-catching, meaning if you already had a visitor on your site reading an article, these are the perfect titles to come up as "Related Posts" and get the visitor to click. However, in terms of SEO, you'll need some authority for them to rank as Yahoo Answers would (come up on top when someone writes a question in Google).

I would make a separate "Articles" or "HowTos" section where articles are posted - linking to those would be easier if you are going for guest posts for example. The more authority your domain has, the better each of these short posts ranks.

Also, the good thing about eye-catching content - it's a goldmine for Facebook. If you can spend some money on FB advertising to get some initial following, posting to your fan page will be getting you some traffic to your website as well!

If it is a legit Q&A site, bear in mind you don't really *know* what keyword you are targeting - part of the benefit of these is they will attract long tail searches.

I dont think the yoast measures are very relevant to this format, but you might be able to pull together pages of FAQs or themes of questions that allow you to optimise a bit more

You make a really good point about the long-tail and I didn't even think about that. Thank you so much. It sounds like I really need to create more authoritative posts aside from the Q&A portion.
