I'm not trying to be a stickler but there are more people than just devs reading this post. Maybe one of them has a pain point to be addressed by an api between services. Just saying.

I always say to check what services people are asking for on the WTB subforum, and possibly what jobs are getting posted on microworkers sites. If you can automate any of them and provide the results/data via an API you may well have a market to tap.
