Profits from ebooks?

Hi,

I'm in the middle of writing a new ebook, for a niche that I have only been an affiliate for about a year.

Anyway, I was wondering, are ebooks still useful? Do buyers like them, and do they have at least a 1% conversion rate (on an optimized website)? I'm asking this because it seems a lot of people now are doing software, services, CPA and such stuff. The only ebooks I see are for IM, but this product is more of the Fitness / Relationships types of products...

Also, are optins and newsletters still the pimary way for advertising such products, or are you guys into something newer?

There is always CPA. And if the traffic is highly targeted a conversion rate of much better than 1:100 is to be expected. Ebooks seem to be hit and miss in my opinion.

I've had a diet ebook on CB for around 6 years and this year sales have gone way down, although I have made more effort to promote it than in previous years.

Don't know if its the economy, the sales page (I have redone it several times) or that people are just sick and tired of seeing the same old weight loss hype... a mixture of all three probably.

Yeah I'm seeing the same thing this couple of months... perhaps it's the economy and not the ebooks
