Picking the right long tail keywords

I found a niche but am not sure in pursuing it. Usually every search term has PA of 1-25. Keyword not in title. 1-12 links for each post. All websites to buy product. My site is basically a guide to buying the product. Should I pursue it? And if you're wondering, the long tail searches are usually around 500-1200 searches a month.

Any suggestions??

When you say the websites are to buy the product - do you mean they have a shopping cart on them? If so it might be a bit tougher than it seems. In my experience Google doesn't like putting informational type sites on queries they are serving up ecommerce. (I'm obviously assuming it's an informational/review type site).

But it might be worth going after anyway. Sounds like it would require minimal investment to test out.

It may be very well worth to go for it.. it's difficult to say exactly since the keyw. is uknown to us.

Mostly all the sites there are e commerce but a da not more than 30.

E commerce sites are not on page optimized for long tail keyword. Where as I have 500-700 word article and keyword variations for the article.

Yeah, when Google is favoring them in a serp it isn't generally because of their stellar on page. There are some queries where they prefer to display places people can directly purchase the product in question. If you can't match that (ie - your site doesn't have a shopping cart) -- it's going to be an uphill battle.

Affiliate sites are third party sites (a middle man). It can be tough to rank going up against direct sources like that.

It's just something to factor into your decision though. Obviously you can never say a real "yes" or "no" without giving it a go. You've seen the serp, so if you have a really good feeling about it - go for it. Maybe focus more heavily on the long tails you mentioned to start.
