These are precisely the sorts of offers that I have been still trying to understand over the years. Can you help me understand?
I understand from the offer that, you will place 40-45 links per homepage, and no more. However, you will take a 1-time charge from us (clients).
So in my understanding, beyond a point in time, these homepages will cease to be profitable for you. Had these been blogroll posts, they would have rolled down to the lower pages, and hence the domains and hosting would remain profitable for you. In this case, I don't see how.
There are sites that stick some links (in context) on the home page, and then have subsequent blog roll posts that also stay on the home page for some time and then roll down to the lower pages. These make monetary sense to me (I understand the incentive of the service provider in this case). Did you mean you are running this sort of a service, and the links we buy from this thread will stick on the home page for ever as long as the sites last, while some other content will also be posted and that may roll down to subsequent pages etc.?
I hope you realize that I am asking a genuine question as a genuinely interested potential customer. I chose to ask it here rather than over private communication as it may help others like mine - I have seen similar questions elsewhere on similar threads in other parts of the world, asked by others. You offer will probably be of interest to me, once I make out the rational sense and have the confidence that in future I won't run into large volumes of sudden link loss.
