The video that I had continue with the views keeps losing views (views are slow high retention views) as they go up; also, when I checked out the retention its all approx 30 seconds on a 4min video - not widely variable as you mentioned on your website. Lastly most of the views are coming from countries that are not similar language or anything to mine... I hope things will improve as the video continues

It all depends on the competition. Views alone won't rank you at #1 though no matter who tells you what.
