Anyone mind if I ask a really stupid question?

I'm considering buying scrapebox to optimize my recently created domain for search engines - however I don't really understand how the software works with regard to system requirements etc.

I've seen people saying you need a dedicated server: If I purchased this software - all I would have to run it would be my relatively mediocre laptop. I've also seen a reference to using hostgator to somehow run scrapebox - if this is possible it sounds attractive as I'm already registered on the baby service of hostgator.

If anyone could give me a basic rundown of how I could go about this or if it'll work I'd really appreciate it

Well like I said in the vid, generally ping mode isnt used to get links. Further more now days I would say the majority of stat programs that are going to display logs publically will discard ping based traffic.

That said, suppose you found a good option for that you would put your site in the referrer or websites.txt file which is the middle of the 5 boxes. Then you would put your sites/stat pages that you want to ping in the "sites to ping" box which is the very bottom box of the 5.

So long as you enter in the right transaction ID I have never had it take more then 12 hours to transfer a license, which I don't think is a looooooong time.

Next up Scrapebox rarely crashes on me. I have 40+ instances I run across mutiple dedicated servers and they hammer thru millions of urls a week. 95% of crashes are generally eitehr a lack of physical resources (aka you need a faster machine or to go slower with smaller lists and less connections), software issues on your local machine such as old versions of windows causing connection issues - Anti Virus - firewall etc... or too slow an internet connection/ISP connection/DNS issues.

The program runs stable and well across thousands of machines, I talk to people all day long that have an use it with no issues.

Stick with it, and realize its powerful. If you want to bit results at fast speed your going to need a powerful machine with a big internet pipe. Windows 7 with the latest service pack or Windows 2008 standard R2 or better are the ideal OS and avoid a lot of issues that old windows imposed on its self. Good old Microsoft, its like building a race car that can go 200 miles an hour and then putting a governor on it to not allow it drive over 30 miles an hour. The newest versions of windows don't have the governors. Will it run fine on older versions, sure, but if you are having lots of issues, it could be part of it.

Well I haven't really done the split testing to give you definitive answer on trackback auto approve, but it does seem easier to get a moderated trackback approved then a blog comment. If I were a guessing man, then I would "guess" it is setup as auto approve, but best bet is to just setup up SB and go to bed and let it bomb 100K and then check links and see what you get.

As for the DDoS I fail to see how educating anyone on how to a DDoS is going to be beneficial, so Ill remain mute. I will be mystic and say that 99% of the time, no matter how good you are there is someone better and you are always traceable, proxies or not. So if your planning on learning how to DDoS someone, you best hope you don't tick off the wrong person. They might just hack yoru site or your home pc and wipe you out. Worse show up on your doorstep. Worse send someone else to show up on your door step. The world is a small place mate, my Dad for instance. He is an upstanding citizen, great guy, give you the shirt off his own back. He has cousins in the Mafia. Like real life, no messing around.

Its said that everyone on the planet is only 6 people away from everyone else. Meaning I know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows (fill in the blank) the president of the US, or Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, or the developer of scrapebox, or the hacker who can mess with your life.

Furthermore a DDoS could be considered a intent to "harm" or "cause loss" in many countries and if proven could lead to hefty fines or other recourse.

Isn't this what we discussed? Anywhere in my post did I say I was going to do it? It was purely a hypothetical question. Besides is there a server that could actually be Ddosed left on the planet? It's been a long long time since I saw a "bandwidth exceeded" message.

Sure you can still DDoS sites, if one person can create it someone else can find its flaws. Anyway, Im off that topic so lets get back to scrapebox.

Hmm I still haven't got this thing to e-mail me any report. I am using a gmail email and have checked the spam folder with nothing. Whats the subject of the email and what address does it come from?

My credits are still at 100 and I have made numerous posts, is that normal?

By credits you mean captcha credits I assume? If you are not posting on a blog that uses captchas then its not going to take your credits. Captha solving services have to be checked off to be enabled under the captcha menu and it only works on slow poster and the proxy manager for unblocking ips.

As for sending emails, it works fine for me, I even get them text to my phone via my cariers email/text address. As for emails you are going to have to have an outgoing mail account setup correctly so scrapebox can send the report. So if you are wanting to use the gmail for outgoing this might help you out with the settings:

It will run find on a mediocre laptop, your just not going to be able to go as fast as on a Dedi or something. You can drive across country in a car or your can fly in a jet. Both get you across country just ones faster and smoother then the other. Same thing with scrapebox. If you don't need to do a lot of links then its pointless to have a dedi anyway, just chug along on the laptop.

I can't give a definitive answer on that one with generic info like that. However if your talking about Adsense then I can say I have bombed the daylights out of my adsense sites with no issue (albeit I have a very diverse solid link profile that does not include just blog comments). I have never heard of anyone getting banned from any and network from bombing scrapebox links directly to their money site.

If it were that easy I would offer services to have your competitors Adsense accounts banned, just let me bomb the daylights out of it. (probably I wouldn't actually offer those kinds of services, as I am not that kind of person, but someone would. Its just for illustration of why Adsense can't be overly ban happy). Although I never say never.

Also note, don?t try and post to a mixture of Wordpress and Movable Type blogs always keep separate Blog Lists.txt files for each platform.

However in the Platforms and Tokens section it says

Because of the Auto Detection, you can have mixed lists of platforms.

Now it is very possible that i have misunderstood this but my understanding is that you can have a mixed list of blog URLs in your blog lists file and SB will autodetect the platform as it posts and therefore i think the first statement might be misleading

Sorry if i have misunderstood but i thought you would like to know if this was the case

The account will be manually activated, and when you bought it the moment SF is going to sleep... there will be the delay. I don't know in what time zone you are, but it might have been night at SF's place the moment you bought it.

Scrapebox can indeed auto detect all compatible platforms in both fast and slow poster. However it wasn't always that way. When I first got it you had to load each list with its respective platform and that was before tokens came to be.

So likely it just got missed when the auto detect update went out, and the new token part was just added. Your right though, full auto detection.

Well kind of. Scrapebox can not break captchas on its own (can of course with a service like decatpcher) but it can avoid certain types of spam protection so that might not always be a hindrance.

Also comments open just means that that url doesn't have comments closed, it doesn't mean that its auto approved. So if you have a list of known auto approve and you were scanning them then that would be a healthy indication. Of course the only real way to find out is post and check links and see what sticks.
